Dining reservation DISASTER

This is a wonderful resort BUT the dining reservation system is a disaster. The only way to make reservations at the few a-la-carte restaurants onsite is through a cell phone app that did not work the entire time we were there. Guest services was very rude and unwilling to help make reservations at any restaurants for us because according to them, "it must be done through the app". Without reservations the wait to be seated was two hours at al the a-la-carte restaurants. The many buffet restaurants are good but one can only eat so many buffets.

Very reasonable purchase for a tight budget

My first time for an all inclusive resort and I think it's worth it. Most of the staff were great, except for a few bartender that takes too much time, too slow.

Great time.

Me and my wife went for a 6 night getaway. We had a great time. Staff was very nice and friendly. Pool was very big and the the ocean and beach was very calm and relaxing. Food was also very good compared to other resorts that I have visited in the past. Resort was very big but there are shuttles provided for transport that run through every couple of minutes. I have no complaints. I would visit again in future

What's to Love

It's all-inclusive and all-incredible - there's something epic for every beach lover.

Their coolio "Stay at one, play at four" plan expands your vacay playground, big time. And, you won't need reservations at any of the restaurants.

The natural freshwater canal surrounding the resort - hypnotic and dreamy.

Melting at the Zentropia spa with vapor baths and stress-ousting massages amid waterfalls.

The Brazilian steakhouse and Sunset Boulevard disco - not necessarily in that order.

What We'd Change

Grand Palladium White Sand Resort & Spa is really big but beautiful. Trekking from one part of the complex to another feels more like an adventure than a chore.

Why You Should Go

It's 50 miles from Cancun airport. It's a drive, but you'll forget this when you see the beach.

Resort Update
Between August and October 2016, several rooms at the Grand Palladium White Sands Resort & Spa will be refreshed and receive new furniture and upgraded decor. The Villas where these improvements will take place will be closed to the public so as to not impact guest experience while staying at the resort. From September through December 2016, the reception area, lobby & lobby bar, and snack bar will be refurbished with a modern decor and will be facilitating these areas to better serve their guests. The Mediterranean a la carte restaurant, Mare Nostrum will undergo renovations between July and September to provide new and exciting alternatives to our guests. Sumptuori, the Japanese a la carte restaurant will undergo renovations from mid September to December 1st. While the restaurant is being renovated, guests will be able to indulge in Asian cuisine at La Hacienda's buffet during dinner service.

Resort Update
Palladium Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to upgrade its Riviera Maya Complex throughout 2017, including incorporating the current Grand Palladium Riviera Resort & Spa into The Royal Suites Yucatan. This transformation will be completed in various phases starting on June 1, 2017. Construction will mostly take place within the current Grand Palladium Riviera Resort & Spa and will have minimal impact. All guestrooms within the hotel, the rocky walkway along the water & the salt water pool area will be closed to all guests during the completion of the project. All other areas including the Riviera Lobby, Disco & Theatre, El Jardin Restaurant and the current The Royal Suites Lobby will be closed during certain dates listed below. During times of closure, the areas will not be accessible to guests and should therefore not impact the guest experience.

Below is a complete project timeline:

Disco & Theatre:
June 1-November 1, 2017: Construction will be in progress in the Disco and Theatre of the current Grand Palladium Riviera Resort & Spa. During this time, alternate entertainment venues will be provided to guests. Once construction to the Disco and Theatre are complete, the Disco will convert to become one of four exclusive restaurants available to guests of The Royal Suites Yucatan and the Theatre will become the second exclusive restaurant providing guests with a Dinner and Show themed experience referred to as the Cabaret.

Riviera Lobby and Kabah Buffet:
June 1-September 15, 2017: Construction will be in progress at the current Riviera Lobby which will convert to the new The Royal Suites Lobby. Guests will not be affected by this construction since all guestrooms in Riviera will be closed. All hotel services will be available at the adjoining White Sand, Colonial and Kantenah Lobbies.

Construction will also be in progress at the Kabah Buffet. During this time, breakfast, lunch and dinner will be available at La Laguna as well as the other restaurants within the Riviera Maya Complex.

The renovated Kabah Buffet will feature 2 separate sections (1 buffet exclusively available to guests of The Royal Suites and 1 for guests of Grand Palladium).

El Jardin Restaurant & the current The Royal Suites Lobby:
September 16-December 1, 2017: Construction will be in progress at El Jardin restaurant and the current lobby of The Royal Suites. The current lobby for The Royal Suites will convert into 2 separate a la carte restaurants. By this time, the new lobby for The Royal Suites will be open at its new location and the buffet will be available at Kabah.
