expected better

The all inclusive-ness was a bit disappointing. The food was JUST Fair. for a resort we expected better quality. Actually all around better quality. There was only one employee that went the extra mile whenever we ran into him. "Rudalpho". No one else service or demeanor compared to his. We would not visit this area again. The beaches we too rocky to enjoy going into the water. The pools were clean and nice. The drinks made were good. Unfortunately that isn't enough to bring us back to a place we went to for relaxation and service. We tried to explain ourselves there but it seems we weren't taken seriously or maybe the culture Is too sophisticated these days to care about foreigners who come with respect to experience their culture and relax in their life style. Sad.............

Close to great

The entire Palladium complex is very clean and modern. There ia a nice selection of dining choices and the food quality is good. The buffet is repetitive so it's good to try the Ala cartes. Drinks were very good with the exception of the main beach bar where mixed drinks had a strange taste, of course the beer is fine there. They do have Don Julio tequila which is a big for me and no extra charge for it. Our room was average, clean and it did have a pull out sofa bed which was great for us. The only complaint I have is that we wanted to go to a steak restaurant and the wait was 45 minutes even at 9:30 pm so we decided to go early the next evening. We arrived before 7 and were told that there was a table ready for us. As we started towards the dining area the hostess stopped us and said it was not possible for us to eat there because they had made it an adults only restaurant for that evening and my daughter is 14. I assured the hostess that my daughter would not scream, cry or be disruptive but she said it was not possible. I did go to 3 customer service reps and did ask for a manager which got me no resolution. I paid an adult price for a 14 year old but she could not eat an adult meal. The manager blamed Cheap Caribbean and said that the resort would not have charged an adult fee for a 14 year old and it would be an international violation for them to allow my girl in the restaurant that night but the day before or after was fine. It was our last evening and really left a bad impression. We ate at another restaurant and did listen to screaming children, what irony.

Fine for the $$$

The furniture in the room was stained and very outdated, and the room smelled very moldy. The cleanliness of bathrooms, floors, etc was good. I think the service from the maids was great- they kept our fridge stocked and bathroom clean, it was just the furniture that isn't easily cleaned that was undesirable. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Word of advice- don't count on the bell desk to help you return back to the lobby with your luggage on departure. We waited for over an hour for a pick up (after multiple calls- and being told someone was on the way)- only to haul our luggage from the Villas ourselves. We almost missed our shuttle to the airport.

Good Family resort

This resort is very nice and family friendly. We took our 2 year old and 5 year old. There were lots of other small kids around. The suite was a good size and the pull out sofa bed was perfect for the kids and low to the ground. The pack and play they provided was in great shape and we still had room to move around. The staff was very friendly and there when we needed them. The resort is very big with 4 main lobbies for non-Royal member guests. The train and trollies they provide to take you back and forth are nice and fun for the kids. it's just takes a little while to get around - The main train from lobby to lobby and then a separate trollie/golf cart to your room. it's great they have these b/c the walk would be long, but sometimes you have to wait 5-10 mins to get one. many times they came right away but during peak periods like morning and dinner time you may have to wait. Overall not a big deal for me and the kids, but my husband did not like when we had to wait. the main kid's pool is great. we had a good time there and close to the beach, bar, and main pool so you can go back and forth. the kid's pool at Riviera is small with no extras, but we actually had a good time there too and all the huts at that pool are much easier to get! Beautiful area. the kids loved all the iguana around the property as well as couple of other unique animals. All of them keep to themselves and were fun to see...but there are lot of iguanas! Food was good/average. Buffets are average all inclusive buffets and lots to choose from. Love the mimosa and bloody mary options every morning! we only went to the Mexican and Ribs ala carte restaurants and they were fine. I was very impressed by the entertainment every night. Those people work hard! we would see working the pool and kid's club during the day and then putting on TWO GREAT shows every night...and then back rehearsing the next morning. The 9 and 10:30 shows are top notch, and we really liked having something to go do every night. it's an hour from cancun airport but was a pretty easy drive. overall we liked it and I would recommend it!

It's all-inclusive and all-aahsome - drinking, noshing (no reservations needed!), you name it, they've got it.

Sinking into almost 2,500 feet of sun-kissed, white sand hugged by fringy palms.

The soothing waterfalls & delish treatments at the Zentropia Spa that's right next door.

If you have food allergies/intolerances, there's a special menu. Dig in.

There's a Kids' Clubs for every age group - drop off the munchkins and chill.

What We'd Change

You'll do a lot of walking on this 300-acre complex, so your legs might hurt after a few days. But it's worth it for all the things you can do, the epic natural beauty and harmonious design.

Why You Should Go

It's 50 miles south of Cancun airport. Though a drive, you'll be happy as a clam when you arrive.

You have access to three sister Grand Palladiums and there's a train to take you there. Hop on.

Don't miss BBQ and live music at the Grand Palladium White Sands on Friday nights.

You can tour the resort in their very own pontoon boat. Ahoy!

Resort Update
Palladium Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to upgrade its Riviera Maya Complex throughout 2017, including incorporating the current Grand Palladium Riviera Resort & Spa into The Royal Suites Yucatan. This transformation will be completed in various phases starting on July 1, 2017. Construction will mostly take place within the current Grand Palladium Riviera Resort & Spa and will have minimal impact. All guestrooms within the hotel, the rocky walkway along the water & the salt water pool area will be closed to all guests during the completion of the project. All other areas including the Riviera Lobby, Disco & Theatre, El Jardin Restaurant and the current The Royal Suites Lobby will be closed during certain dates listed below. During times of closure, the areas will not be accessible to guests and should therefore not impact the guest experience.

Below is a complete project timeline:

Disco & Theatre:
July 1-November 1, 2017: Construction will be in progress in the Disco and Theatre of the current Grand Palladium Riviera Resort & Spa. During this time, alternate entertainment venues will be provided to guests. Once construction to the Disco and Theatre are complete, the Disco will convert to become one of four exclusive restaurants available to guests of The Royal Suites Yucatan and the Theatre will become the second exclusive restaurant providing guests with a Dinner and Show themed experience referred to as the Cabaret.

Riviera Lobby and Kabah Buffet:
July 1-September 15, 2017: Construction will be in progress at the current Riviera Lobby which will convert to the new The Royal Suites Lobby. Guests will not be affected by this construction since all guestrooms in Riviera will be closed. All hotel services will be available at the adjoining White Sand, Colonial and Kantenah Lobbies.

Construction will also be in progress at the Kabah Buffet. During this time, breakfast, lunch and dinner will be available at La Laguna as well as the other restaurants within the Riviera Maya Complex.

The renovated Kabah Buffet will feature 2 separate sections (1 buffet exclusively available to guests of The Royal Suites and 1 for guests of Grand Palladium).

El Jardin Restaurant & the current The Royal Suites Lobby:
September 16-December 1, 2017: Construction will be in progress at El Jardin restaurant and the current lobby of The Royal Suites. The current lobby for The Royal Suites will convert into 2 separate a la carte restaurants. By this time, the new lobby for The Royal Suites will be open at its new location and the buffet will be available at Kabah.
