What a wonderful vacation!!

This is our 4th NYE trip booked with Cheap Caribbean, and the one thing I learned is that the guest reviews will be 99.9% accurate. I was skeptical because this resort seemed to get an equal number of positive and negative reviews, but I am soooo glad we gave it a chance. We stayed in a honeymoon villa from 12/30-1/6, room 3031. What a beautiful room!! After arriving to the resort around 4 pm, we were immediately greeted with a drink and checked in. The shuttle took us and our bags to our room within 10 minutes. The pros about this resort - they do enforce the adults only pool and beach which is very nice when looking to relax. You have your choice of beaches and they are all very beautiful. Drinks were made however you liked, and we never had problem getting towels. The food was pretty good, maybe not the best I have ever had at a resort, but we loved the Italian (both the food and service were wonderful), the jerk hut, and the Mexican were our favorites. I only cared for the buffet at breakfast and the omelet bar and fresh fruit/juice were wonderful. The room was beautiful and we got the oceanfront view we were promised. Never had a problem getting a shuttle, but we usually walked everywhere. Also, excursions are cheaper when booked at the downstairs location and not through Amstar, but we did have a great one day trip to Negril and another to 1/2 day Bob Marley -it IS a 3 hr. drive (you will get told it is a 1 1/2-2 hr drive), but worth it, and 1/2 day at Dunns River. Very neat. The cons - the only thing and it is minor to me was walking through the lobby, every day, you have to tell about 10 people no to either spa services or "free gifts/raffles", no matter how many times you have seen the people, they continue to try and get you to participate. We chose not to. I get they are there to do a job, so I didn't let it bother me too much. Sometimes it is hard to find chairs at the pools, even the giant pool, but we always found a spot on Coral Beach (the adults only beach). Rodney at the adult pool made wonderful drinks, and Waylon in the lobby was super nice.

Great trip!

Just got back from a trip over New Year's. Great resort, great value. Pictures on the website represent the place perfectly. My wife and I had a honeymoon villa with a 2 person jacuzzi (more like 8-10 person) in the room, a Terrace overlooking the ocean, a minibar which was restocked daily, and an outdoor shower. Very secluded room despite being in a building with 4 units...we never heard our neighbors. Resort is HUGE and there is something to do wherever you go so you'll always feel like you're in a different place. Food was good and plentiful (not great) but I'm a spoiled NYer so take that with a grain of salt. All-inclusive package was exactly that; we only brought cash for tipping. I know the price changes all the time, but this place was cheap compared to other resorts offering deals over New Year's. Best restaurant was the seafood place. Get to the restaurants early as they can fill up. Overall experience-got exactly what we expected...no surprises or disappointments. If you're thinking of booking, do it!

Average in the World of Average

I have been on dozens of vacations. Your decorating was beautiful, other than that this was not a 5 star experience for me. I would rate you 3.5. Crowded and sub-standard food. Hot water was shut off several times or water pressure was so low one could not take a complete shower. I am stuck with paying more for an average vacation - not happy about that. John Hallaran

What's to Love

It's all-inclusive, all-beautiful and all you'd ever want in a beach vacay. Swoon.

The 86,000 sq. ft. infinity pool with four Jacuzzis. You could hang here the entire time & be just fine.

Reservations are not required at any of the restaurants.

Modeled after Roman baths, the epic spa's stress-busting massages, Turkish baths & more.

Teeing off at the renowned Tryall Country Club that's just 10 minutes away. Schwing.

Swooning over the panoramic view of the pool and teal ocean from the Blue Lagoon restaurant.

What We'd Change

The resort is built in rugged country, so the man-made beaches are rocky. Even so, the area is beautiful, and with five pools, finding a place to swim is no problem.

Why You Should Go

It's about 40 minutes from the airport - blink and you'll have a chilly drink in your hand.

You can hop on catamarans, kayaks, pedal boats, snorkeling & windsurfing 100% FREE.

Volleyball, tennis & aerobics are available for calorie burning. (Dip into the ocean to cool off.)

Dunn's River Falls is not too far away and is a must-splash. Jump in.

Since these are villa-style, three-story buildings, there are no elevators. Better than a stair-climber.
