Very good

We enjoyed our stay at Grand Palladium Kantenah Resort & Spa. A standout was Manuel at the Grand Azul Dining Room, who went out of his way to take care of us. I also liked the abundance of shaded seating on the beach. I would have enjoyed more activities suited to middle-aged guests, such as day trips that were not so expensive. The biggest negative was the awful music piped over the speakers at the Katenah's small private pool. We finally couldn't stand it and avoided that pool entirely, which was unfortunate because we liked it there. We also thought that the buffets got monotonous after a few days because we couldn't see any variety from day to day and place to place. Otherwise, it was a good stay. I would recommend it to others but we will not do it again.

Beautiful and Relaxing

Loved the beautiful setting with trees and private walkways; unique bridges to take you through jungle like areas. The buffets were delicious with a variety of foods. The beach was close to everything else and well maintained. Their were swim up bars located by large, beautiful pools. The snack bar near the beach was wonderful. We also went to two of the speciality restaurants...Itailian and Mexican. They were excellent. Members of our group went to several others which were also said to be delicious. This was my favorite resort out of the three I have experienced.

Great vacation but there was a couple of hiccups

So let me start by saying that my husband and I had a great vacation and knew not everything would be perfect. We were upset when we arrived to find out the King bedroom we booked was no longer available and that we had to have a 2 full size beds bedroom (also the air conditioning did not work well) We were told after that if we had not booked through cheapcaribbean.com, and gone straight through them, that we would not have ran into that issue. We were able to change our room when one because available, but only for 2 nights, which was the room we should have had all along. Our favorite things about the vacation were the beach, shows, and some of the dining restaurants. Our favorite restaurants were the Thai and the Italian. I did notice at the Brazilian and Italian restaurants that the service took a long time. The Japanese was not as good as what I get at home. You could also tell it was hard for him to sort the food out on the grill for everyone. The shows every night were amazing! All of the bartenders and the transportation drivers were great, although we did walk a lot. The resort is HUGE! The food was actually pretty good in the buffets, except for the one on the beach, but you can order food from them that is better). Our experience would have been better if you had the room we wanted to begin with, but it was still a great vacation. We would go again if we were promised to have the room we paid for.

If you're staying at kantenah -must read!

I would like to point out that I had a spinal surgery last year & im in my late 20s so considering I'm still recovering .. here's a review: Check in- horrible! One person and there was a line not to mention we reached the resort at 12am & didn't get to the room until 1. When I booked the trip I was told it was a shuttle ride of 45 minutes ... nope! It took an hour and 45 minutes. Room service- 11 am to 11 pm only ( mostly junk food) I literally starved the night we got in. Can't order breakfast since it's not "available" they gave us gifts when we got in which was a plus but cleaning crew took it when cleaning ? What the bell .. I tried getting welcome gifts but apparantely they are always on lunch break or some sort of break. Beach/ pool- pool was pretty but if you go to swim up bar you will notice how dirty it is... met a couple who kept insisting on swapping smh drinks at swims bar were delicious Room- we got a suite & it was beautiful but bathroom had fungus & we were given a room on the opposite side of the beach considering my situation. The service is only good if you tip them or else they don't pay attention. Which is fine but some were rude for no reason. Lunch /dinning option - I just wanna say I starved! Couldn't get reservations buffet food gets blah after having it so many times. Extra cost for a birthday cake ? Umm they had so many cakes at buffet they could have easily given that to me. I wouldn't stay at kantenah but colonial looked beautiful and it was a mixed crowd. We were suppose to reach lobby at 6:50 am for shuttle to airport and I called for trolley at 6:30 .. no one came ! My h had to run to lobby to tell someone to come which was ridiculous because we could've missed our ride and flight, upon arrival he didn't even apologize. It was so stressful. I'm more upset about house keeping taking all the gifts: how pathetic. Second day we didn't even have bathrobes smh

What's to Love

It's all-inclusive and all-aahmazing - a beachtastic wonderland.

All the restaurants are reservation-free. You can show up on your own schedule.

The Zentropia spa with Swedish massage & the cold bath "eco-meditative" treatment. Brace yourself.

Relaxing in the hammock area and booze snoozing it for an afternoon.

The food options - if you're gluten-free or have allergies they've got a special menu.

Hanging out at the turtle nesting area - you'll love these sweet little babies.

What We'd Change

Your legs might hurt after all the walking you'll do here, but the beautiful 300-acre property and all the perks that come with booking make it too good to pass up.

Why You Should Go

It's 50 miles south of Cancun airport. It's a drive, but when you arrive, you won't want to leave.

The grounds are massive, so you'll be hoofing it a lot, but there are shuttles to cart you around.

You get four resorts for the price of one - three other Grand Palladiums are a coconut's throw away.

Bring water shoes. Most of the beach is great, but it's rocky where you might want to snorkel.

Six tennis courts along with wave after wave of water sports like kayaking, water polo & more.

Resort Update
Palladium Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to upgrade its Riviera Maya Complex throughout 2017, including incorporating the current Grand Palladium Riviera Resort & Spa into The Royal Suites Yucatan. This transformation will be completed in various phases starting on June 1, 2017. Construction will mostly take place within the current Grand Palladium Riviera Resort & Spa and will have minimal impact. All guestrooms within the hotel, the rocky walkway along the water & the salt water pool area will be closed to all guests during the completion of the project. All other areas including the Riviera Lobby, Disco & Theatre, El Jardin Restaurant and the current The Royal Suites Lobby will be closed during certain dates listed below. During times of closure, the areas will not be accessible to guests and should therefore not impact the guest experience.

Below is a complete project timeline:

Disco & Theatre:
June 1-November 1, 2017: Construction will be in progress in the Disco and Theatre of the current Grand Palladium Riviera Resort & Spa. During this time, alternate entertainment venues will be provided to guests. Once construction to the Disco and Theatre are complete, the Disco will convert to become one of four exclusive restaurants available to guests of The Royal Suites Yucatan and the Theatre will become the second exclusive restaurant providing guests with a Dinner and Show themed experience referred to as the Cabaret.

Riviera Lobby and Kabah Buffet:
June 1-September 15, 2017: Construction will be in progress at the current Riviera Lobby which will convert to the new The Royal Suites Lobby. Guests will not be affected by this construction since all guestrooms in Riviera will be closed. All hotel services will be available at the adjoining White Sand, Colonial and Kantenah Lobbies.

Construction will also be in progress at the Kabah Buffet. During this time, breakfast, lunch and dinner will be available at La Laguna as well as the other restaurants within the Riviera Maya Complex.

The renovated Kabah Buffet will feature 2 separate sections (1 buffet exclusively available to guests of The Royal Suites and 1 for guests of Grand Palladium).

El Jardin Restaurant & the current The Royal Suites Lobby:
September 16-December 1, 2017: Construction will be in progress at El Jardin restaurant and the current lobby of The Royal Suites. The current lobby for The Royal Suites will convert into 2 separate a la carte restaurants. By this time, the new lobby for The Royal Suites will be open at its new location and the buffet will be available at Kabah.
