Got to Experience This!
The Grand Paladium was incredible. This is the largest resort in Jamaica and I have to say the upkeep on the cleanliness, friendliness of the staff & entertainment options offered by the resort are definitely great! Every restaurant we went to the staff was professional and friendly. The service was great! As far as things to do, they are endless. Every time we would walk through the resort, there was always something going on, even things that are not mentioned in the amenities list. There was a Calypso Band, Piano Band Performances, Reggae Bands, DJ's, Dance Performances, and more. I woud also see dance lessons, pilates/yoga classes, pool & beach volleyball, pool basketball, a giant chess board and more. There were always multiple activities going on, it was good because we always had something to do and we were never bored!
I went with my boyfriend and if we could do it all again, we would in a heartbeat. The only things that we would change may be the food variety at the buffets, and some of the A La Carte restaurants had a long wait to be seated; so we had to go early so that we wouldn't have to wait long. The other recommendation we would offer to the resort is that we thought it would be a good idea to have one of the pools open late and have a dj/food there at night time. The pools close at 8pm. Other than that, this place is overall is rated as Excellent!
One of the complaints we had read before going stated that there was a lot of walking and stairs. For us that was one of the best parts of the Resort. We loved the beautiful gardens and walking paths and only wished we had a better view from our balcony. We found out that most of the on site resturants were fair to poor, but enjoyed the buffets that offered multiple choices and decent service.
We really enjoyed the pool with a swim up bar and Sunset Beach which was a good walk from the main lobby, but worth it. The deal we got was all inclusive at the resort and also included air fare and transfers which made the entire trip hassle free.
For what you receive, I would recommend the resort to anyone looking for a simple getaway.
When we arrived @ The resort we were taken care of by Freddie. If you choose to visit make sure you ask for him, as he was phenomenal the entire stay. We checked in with Janine who was helpful the entire stay as well.
This is an all inclusive resort, but a few dollars here and there and you will be treated like royalty as my family & friends in our group were the entire trip. Remember, while all inclusive resorts are technically paid for, the workers at most of these places make nearly nothing and as is the case with this resort they survive off their tips. A dollar or 2 goes a long way.
Look up a few people when you go there, Ricardo in the Mexican rest., Joseph, Akeem & especially Kristopher in the Steakhouse. Nichola depending on where she is, usually serving drinks.
The food was great, many choices, lots of places to go. We read alot about the poor food or not many choices, long lines, etc. The resort was oversold, completely booked and we had no issues what-so-ever. Only place we would say stay away from is the Sports Bar, its the low end of the dining.
For your evening dining, make sure the males have long pants, linen works best. There was a guy complaining that he didnt bring pants. Well make sure you read about where youre going and no what you need to have before you book it.
Most of the reviews that are negative come from people you cannot please no matter what. They are unsatisfied no matter how far people go to serve them. So please dont judge your booking off of them. We saw a few cases of "cry me a river" while we were there, and it was simply because they didn't read or understand what the policies/rules were. You cant blame a resort for your own ignorance. Of course certain things can and will happen out of your control, thats everywhere though.
The only negative review our group would give is the lack of music being played around the resort & at the bars. You'd assume being in Jamaica, wanting you to be upbeat and involved there would be more. Other than that, it was an amazing trip.
Beds and pillows are hard, but we were there for the experience, not to worry about the beds. The AC and water worked great the entire trip and it was warm, IE 90
Make sure you bring comfortable shoes, the resort is big and you will be doing alot of walking. Which our group found as a positive, not a negative as so many others stated. Its good for you to walk, and if you dont, wanna be lazy just call the front desk, they will send someone to pick you up. So its a win win for all.
We will all be going back. The value this trip holds is amazing. Highly encourage you to book it.

One of the Best Deals I've ever purchased
The Grand Palladium Resort and Spa... The resort is beautiful! The service is excellent! The food was what can I say so much to choose from DELICIOUS! There are so many resturants but, the lines are long. They had a band that was off the charts! Wonderful!
Great getaway even with your children something for everyone!

Would you recommend this resort if I have two (2) small children10 answers
I have two small children (both under 10), has anyone with a similar situation stayed at t his resort and could tell me if it was a good fit for them?

RogerW
Yes for sure! Lots of swimming pools, beach is nice, and lots and lots of food choices! The negative I would say is the 45 min drive to the resort from the airport. If your kids will be tired from a day of traveling, I suggest Riu Montego Bay, Hilton Rose Hall, or Iberostar Rose hall Suites all less than 25 mins from airport.
CaribbeanJim
My kid is 10 and we stayed in the Jr. suite. The sofa can be converted into a pull-out bed, which is big enough for two small kids.
Happy123
There were a lot of kids there during our trip and they seemed to be having a blast. The pools and beaches were perfect for kiddos too.
JHark
I just got back from there and there were plent of kids all ages and looked to be having a ball. Lots for kids activity by the pool area games and such with the entertainment guides.
KellJody
I don;t have kids but there were quite a few around. There was a kids play zone where they had activities for kids and they looked happy when I was walking by. Good luck!
DCsunseeker
NO...not much activity for younger children. Very adult focused. The menu items, the activities, the layout of the resort, the staff, and the rooms...not focused toward children.
Shianna
the palladium has activity thats for children, there's so much for them to do. they will never get bored.
sheant
o my gosh! your kids will LOVE it. They let the kids go to the mini club and they learn dances and skits that they perform at the night show. They braid their hair and remember them when they see they around the resort.
hylynn
Yes definitely although we had no children with us they provided a child's section of resort with check in and out of the children that was safe and the children there were very entertained from what we saw
Herquae
Yes, I saw a lot of young children.

What are my choices for departure cities. I live in Iowa.1 answer
1 year, 15 months ago
Fred
Depending on where you live in Iowa and where you intend to travel, the airport of choice can drastically change.
However, the major international airport located in Iowa would be the Des Moines International Airport (DSM). However, about 120 miles West of Des Moines is the Eddley Airfield (OMA) in Omaha, Nebraska, so if you are closer to that direction, that may be an option as well.
Happy traveling!

What is the layout for the 1 bedroom suites?10 answers
In the 1 bedroom suites, is the bedroom separate from where the sofa bed is? We are thinking of bringing our kids and would like as much privacy as possible.

DJ
The one bedroom suites at Grand Palladium do have a separate bedroom and living area. The sofa bed is located in the living area.
KateCC
The sofa is right next to the beds so no you won't have any privacy
Gixxersteev
There isn't much privacy. There is a bed and then the sofa just of the other side of the room. It is an open living space. Not private.
Shianna
it is a separate BR, but the couch folds out onto the floor. My daughter had to sleep on it and at over $100/night extra ,I wouldn't do it again

one big room
beej
Just one large room with king bed or 2 doubles. Sofa bed is in the same room. No privacy.
bichons
No it is not. But they have a great kids program it is sooooo worht it!
hylynn
Yes it two separate rooms both have balconies plus climate control in both
Chillin
Hi DJ, you are better off upgrading to a one bedroom. We've done it twice and it's worth it because you then have 2 tvs in the room. The king bed in the bedroom is seperate, with a door that locks! The living room area has a sofa bed (best to get sheets on it) and 2 chairs and a table. It's a nice sized room for a couple with 2 kids. Enjoy!
Dolo
I found the ground floor better due to sitting area being upfront w/patio and bedroom in the rear w/patio.....our cousin had a 2nd floor room w/balcony but their bedroom and sitting room were all together

what is the cost of the motorized sports3 answers
what is the cost of the motorized sports
1 year, 14 months ago
ted
The motorized water sports are not offered directly by the resort, but instead they are independent vendors located close to the resort. You would be best to speak with the concierge upon arrival, as they would be able to assist you with the best vendors to use, pricing, etc.
KristinCC
I really did not see any motorized sports in this hotel while I was there. If you look at the pictures of the beach closely there is rocks in the water that prevent boats from coming in near the hotel. The hotel itself was far from other hotels and attractions and travel by taxi is expensive.

No, it's an extra charge. You can add it to your travel package or make arrangement with your tour company.

No I just got back cheapest is 25 bucks per person
Chillin
Yes, free airport service to/from airport/hotel-are included in this "All Inclusive Package." Also, all meals, beverages to include, water, pop, wine, beer, and other forms of alcohol/non alcohol are a part of your deal. When they say "all included," it is really true, there was even a small refrigerator in the room; which was stocked each day with pop, water, beer, etc. It too was included in this package deal.
SDimples
They were not included in our package. We added them with Cheapcarribean. Pick up and drop off was flawless.
JanKay
Not that I could see; we paid for a shuttle service through CheapCarribean..but I suspect getting a taxi when in Jamaica is less expensive.

No but only cost us 50.00$ thru chepcarribean when we booked our package

What is the age limit to be considered a "child"?2 answers
My son is a young teenager and I wondered what the cut-off age is to be considered a "child" and therefore, free.

dpconner
The child rate at this resort starts at 3 years old, junior rate starts at 13 years old and adult rate starts at 17 years old.
MariaCC
There were numerous children there, with an age rang from a few months to teens. They offered various activities for the children and allowed them to showcase their talents. I was thinking about taking my grands but there are few limitations as to where you can/can't smoke. For example, ashtrays are everywhere, you can smoke in the lobby, outside the restaurants, near the pools, etc.

Hi Heather, Yes, you can take your US appliances and use the hotel's electrical outlets. No need for a converter. We just got back Saturday night. Our 2nd time at Grand Palladium wasn't as great as our first, due to going during Hurricane Season, but we still had a lovely time.
Dolo
yes everything is the same as the us.

Although the outlets look a little different, you do not need converters.

Is there scuba diving right off shore by boat?2 answers

mahopac
While SCUBA diving is not included in the all-inclusive package, there are shops and facilities nearby which offer SCUBA diving packages for purchase.
KristinCC
Hi, I did my share of water sports during my stay at the Grand Palladium and you don't have to leave the resort as it is located on the water. I didn't go Scuba Diving but they do offer it off the beach next to the sister resort (Lady Hamilton), which you would have access to if you stay at the Grand Paladium (or Jamaica) side. Scuba Diving, there is an extra charge but you don't have to leave the resort, the boat is right there!

How does this resort compare to Iberostar Rose Hall Beach?1 answer
Trying to decide between the two resorts. I have two children ages 5 and 10. I want to make sure the beaches are nice (swimmable) as well as the pools and that my kids have a great time!
Gdaisy
Both of these resorts have similar ratings and similar amenities so I can understand what a difficult decision this can be. The beaches are appropriate for children-very little surf and warm, shallow water. Both resorts have a lot of activiites offered during the day, and a Kids Club where there all kinds of activities are planned to keep the kids entertained. I would suggest that you call one of experienced Beach Experts to discuss both properties in detail and assist you in making your decision.
