grand oasis viva
the beaches and pool locations are beautiful, so I would say that's what you primarily pay for location, location ....food and acommadations could be better, also a lot of hidden charges for normally standard issued options such as room safes 6 usd per night, also extra charges for certain restaurants, I thought inclusive meant just that, obviously not, at least not here. but overall we loved the location close to the nightlife so I guess it's a trade off depending on what your priorities are....
This 4 day trip was booked, last minute, as a get away from the wintery weather. We arrived and the first 2 days were cool, rainy and blustery. The third day had more wind with a little bit of sunshine, and our last day was partly sunny but again, very windy. This is going to be quite lengthy, so my apologies.
Despite the disappointing weather, the resort and the people who work there are wonderful! We'll definitely go back again. It was an adult only location and was worth it for us.
We had the all-inclusive package and were issued the black wrist bands. There are different levels of inclusion based on the color of your band. I still don't know how we were lucky enough to get the VIP band, as I selected nothing other than the basics when booking our trip. A few times throughout our stay, we were uncertain if we were going to be charged for our meals, so be sure to have a clear understanding as to what restaurants are included with your bands. We had no additional charges on our bill even though our room number was requested before dining at a few locations.
The beach is lovely. Sandy and kept very clean. We heard that other areas of the beach at other resorts had rocky surfaces.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. The resort is kept spotless and you can find it being swept, cleaned and polished throughout the day.
The food was really good. Breakfast was often at the buffet, but we tried ever other place for dinner.
Dos Lunas was our favorite of the restaurants. They offered Italian fare with a cozy atmosphere.
Go to Las Palmas with an empty stomach, and prepare to have the meat sweats. It's Brazilian style eating, and everything is delicious.
The Mexican restaurant, Maria Bonita, serves a 7 course appetizer sized meal. Set aside 2 hours for this dinner, and head to the buffet when you're done. The food is presented beautifully, and worth the experience, but the time you wait between courses and the small portions will leave you a bit hungry. Definitely something to try once though. Oddly enough, we went here during lunch one day and were presented with a sushi menu. That was good as well.
Because of the weather, we were only able to experience a couple of the outdoor eateries. The taco cart was tasty as was the sushi place. Happy Chicken and The Wimpy weren't open on our one semi-sunny day.
The shows at night were entertaining, but ended around 10 and the place pretty much cleared out. Bring other things to occupy your time if you are expecting nasty weather. There were board games available, but at times, we just wandered around and people watched. I'm sure it would have been different had the weather cooperated.
All in all, a great trip. Great value, good food, beautiful water, pools and lounge areas. Extremely clean and staffed with friendly helpful employees.
One tip, find a bartender you like, tip them well, and enjoy some tasty drinks and great service.
Very expensive, room leaked,24 hr room service was only ok. VERY loud music, - the food very good and if we were drinkers it would've been better. I would NOT recommend this unless you are young, like really loud music, have alot of money to spend and LOVE to eat and drink. VERY disappointed.

Grand Oasis Viva Beach Hotel in Cancun: Full-Service Spa, Sand and
Sultry Cancun Nightlife
It's time to set your sights on the glistening, golden sands and radiant
blue-green surf at the hip, all-inclusive, all-adult Grand Oasis Viva Beach
Hotel in Cancun. Located right on the coast in Cancun's Hotel Zone, Grand Oasis
Viva Beach Hotel is just 10 min from downtown Cancun, within walking distance
of the convention center, shopping, bars and restaurants. The resort gives
guests an ideal mix of fun and relaxation, with equally easy access to the
waters of the Caribbean and the hum of the city.
With direct access to 650 ft of Playa Viva, guests of the Grand Oasis Viva
Beach in Cancun can relax on any one of a number of chaise lounges placed
strategically beneath the shaded cover of palapas and swaying palms. The nearby
Beach Bar stands ready to soothe if you should become parched, while two
beachfront pools surrounded by meticulously manicured gardens of indigenous
flora and fauna most certainly live up to the name of "Oasis." An inviting
infinity pool looks as if it simply disappears into the horizon, and together
the pools resemble nothing short of paradise, with a convenient swim-up bar for
those who just can't bear to get out of the water.
Toweling off is worth the effort when six on-site restaurants beckon! Try
authentic Brazilian fare at Rodizio, or savor a delicate ceviche at the on-site
fish and seafood restaurant, Cocoa. Nighttime entertainment ranges from live
shows poolside to late-night watering holes like the Cocktail Bar and the VIP
Bar. Should festivities move into the wee hours of the morning, eager night
owls find it's a short cab ride to the heart of Cancun's famous nightlife.
Wind up or down with an aerobics class any day of the week, or hop a
catamaran to see the shore from atop the waves. After a busy day you can
comfortably retire to your room, which comes complete with in-room Wi-Fi and a
fully stocked mini bar.
