Caribbean Jim's Comments:

What I love about this resort:
The Grand Hotel Acapulco (formerly Hyatt Regency Acapulco) is an Acapulco tradition. The rooms are large and comfortably decorated. The best place to spend some time here is the pool. It's active and a great place to cool off from the hot Acapulco sun. The hottest thing about Acapulco is the nightlife and this hotel is located within walking distance of many of the hot spots.
What I wish I could change:
The hotel is a little far from the center of downtown but there are some very popular clubs within walking distance.
Why YOU should go:
Acapulco offers an abundance of nightlife and daytime activities.

Located on a privileged beach in one of the world's most beautiful natural bays, Grand Hotel Acapulco is the first hotel on the bay when arriving from Acapulco's Juan N. Alvarez International Airport. The hotel offers first class accommodations and facilities in Mexico's sunniest resort destination and is near exclusive night clubs and entertainment centers.

The hotel is surrounded by gardens and sundecks with umbrellas with a main pool that meanders for 75 yards. Next to a rock waterfall, a smaller pool has a shallow children's section. 70 thatched palapas and lounge chairs are at the ready, available for rent on the 100-yard section of beach fronting the hotel. Another long deck is available above the beach.

The hotel offers a rock-waterfall garden, orthodox synagogue, Mikveh Tevila (immersion pool), and a special Shabbat (Sabbath) elevator. An open-air, poolside restaurant serves kosher cuisine December through February for breakfast, lunch, and dinner; Shabbat dinner on Friday nights and a Shabbat brunch on Saturdays. Catholic Mass is offered on Sundays during busier seasons.

Located on the ground floor of the hotel, the "Alory Spa" is where you will find professional personalized Spa services with all the latest treatment to ensure your body is in top shape and an environment that inspires relaxation, tranquillity and a feast of the senses. In the Spa, you will find massage rooms, sauna, steam bath, jacuzzi, private lockers and the latest in Spa equipment which includes an alphajet, a presojet and bionalysis. To keep the body in shape, a fully equipped workout room with professional instructors will prepare a program to your needs.

Other amenities include a business center with computer stations and high-speed Internet access as well as laptop-stations with high-speed Internet access (surcharges). Wireless access is also available in public areas (surcharge).

During busy seasons, complimentary supervised activities are offered for children age 4-12, with parties given on some nights (surcharges). Clothing, beachwear, jewelry, gifts, cigars, snacks and sundries are available in the hotel's shopping arcade.

On the hotel beachfront (as on many beaches around Acapulco Bay), independent operators rent out snorkeling gear, personal watercraft, and motor boats. They also arrange snorkeling, scuba-diving, glass-bottom-boat, and fishing excursions; parasailing flights, water skiing, and banana-boat rides.
