Worst Purchase Ever

Many things went south during my stay at Grand Bahia Principe Turquesa. A time that is meant to disconnect from your daily hustle, was actually spent in pure frustration and constant disappointments. My reservation was a party of 4 people (3 Adults Day 1: **Requested a double bed room in our reservation, when we made it to our room, the room only had a king size bed and a personal sofa bed. **Finally got our room changed to what we had originally requested, only to find out that we had not been given a TV remote control, and we had only been provided with two bath towels. After several phone calls to the lobby, they brought us the exact amount of towels per person and a Remote control which was not programmed to our TV. **They specified that the room had a Jacuzzi tub, but apparently no one took the time to realize that the plug section of the tub was broken. In which the Jacuzzi was never to retain water to bathe in. Day 2: **Las Olas Breakfast Buffet - got assigned the side room every morning in which the room's AC was apparently broken/ Fans were not on and the room temperature must have been in the mid 80s if not higher. (By the third day of getting sat in the same hot room we had to complain and were assigned to sit in a cooler area of the buffet restaurant.) **Pool Towels were always scarce, had to literally wait for 4 hours to get a clean set of pool towels. (kept being told to return to the towel stand in 30 minutes.) Day 3: **A La Carte meat/ seafood restaurant- reservation was for 8:30PM, when we arrived for our reservation, there was no meat or seafood left. we ended up eating rice, with fruit and deserts. Day 3: **Provided the lobby with our input of the previous day's restaurant reservation and the lack of meat/ seafood. Lobby provided us with a reservation to a Mexican restaurant at 6:30PM. we made it to the restaurant and the AC was not working, temperature was very uncomfortable and the floor was very slippery to where if we were not careful we would have definitely slipped. **Prior to the dinner reservation when we made it back to the room from being at the pool, we found out that we were only provided with 2 bath towels and missing two more. **The only positive note I have is the pool Bartender Marianna: she was definitely quite the individual. Excellent customer service on her part. She was the highlight of our stay** All else, was sadly, very disappointing.

Family Vacation

The food: Do take advantage of the breakfast at the Dalias. The food there was very good. Dinner options there were very good as well but didn't go much as I had the restaurants to choose from. Never had the lunch as I normally ate lunch at the Corales by the pool. The food option there was small but everything was fantastic. The fried calamari was awesome, the chicken, the burger, the pasta, all fantastic. The staff was very accommodating and even made some special platters for my family and I that were out of this world. The steak house was by far the best food I had there. The BBQ was excellent as well. The Japanese steakhouse(HIBACHI) was EXCELLENT as well. I didn't care for the Pescadora(seafood). Accommodations: The room we were upgraded to was AMAZING. It was a Master Family suite. I was traveling with my wife and 4 kids and they gave us adjoining rooms. The cleaning staff was fantastic as they went out of their way to get me different options of milk my 4 year old may like. The property itself at Gran Bahia Principe is very well kept. The Waterpark was awesome for the kids, and if I didn't fear of looking foolish on the slides I would have partaken myself LOL. It looked like so much fun. The private pool is very nice but I never went in. It was very close to my room and my kids preferred the bigger pool. There were always seats for all of us. The water was great at all times. The pool bar staff was awesome as well. Here are my negative takes. The hotel should have a practice that if a sheet from a guest at anytime has any stains, that sheet should be discarded. A chain of this size should not be skimpy on some basic white sheets. I hope the CC website has been updated since my last conversation with a rep prior to my trip. Although you do have your options of the 6 a la carte restaurants, you are not entitled to them all. You are only entitled to 3 per every week booked. I learned this as I tried to make my reservations in advance prior to the trip. The rep I did speak to this about did not know this information and advised me that they were not aware of this. I chucked it up to a learning experience since they may have not known. FYI, you can finagle your way past a reservation though LOL. So I actually got to hit 4 of the restaurants. Last and not least, and this has nothing to do with CC, as I have booked many vacations through here seamlessly. Anyone booking this hotel should take note that this is a huge family resort. Adults should take note that if they are not there with kids, they should respect the families that are and not get drunk and fight in front of other families. It does not make for an enjoyable time.

Very good with only one negative.

We stayed at the Grand Bahia Principe Turquesa for 7 nights. The room was very nice and maintained almost daily with new towels, which is all I really cared about to be honest. We spent most of our days checking out the various pools, swim-up bars and walking along the beach. The dining options were very good. I am an incredibly picky eater and could find more than enough different options for me to eat. Even in the restaurants requiring reservations (We chose the Italian, steakhouse and the Mediterranean restaurants), food was quick and delicious with nice salad and soup buffets to begin. The poolside entertainment and Zumba classes were very entertaining and not too much if you still wanted to relax. The bartenders at the swim up bar were fun and always were helpful with drinks, refills and whatever else we needed. Honestly, my only negative about the resort was the sheer amount of pushy vendors that constantly walk the beaches and inside the resort by the sports bar and theatre. You couldn't go more than 15 minutes without someone stopping to ask if you wanted to buy jewelry, cups, cigars, hair braids, etc, which was not enjoyable as I wasn't trying to relax. Even inside the resort away from the beach, tons of vendors stop you asking if you want to buy various things from their carts. On our first day there before our room was ready, I was walking around and someone resembling an employee told me I couldn't walk on A certain part of the sidewalk, so I didn't.. Only to be told that I needed to come check out their stand. I also was walking out on the beach right around sunset still on the resort as I was approached by a different vendor (in regular street clothes) asking it I wanted to buy cigars or drugs from him. However, Overall, the resort was beautiful, very clean and enjoyable. The only thing keeping it from a perfect rating was the insane amount of vendors.

What's to Love

It's all-inclusive, family-friendly beach blast. No unhappy beachers here.

Dropping the youngsters at the kids' spa while you indulge in a much-needed hot stone massage.

Being handed a welcome cocktail when you arrive - throw it back and have another.

Hittin' the waves via kayak, catamaran or paddle surfing. Beach time is the best time.

What We'd Change

The grounds hosting the multiple Grand Bahia resorts can be noisy, but Turquesa is the smallest of them and offers some relative quiet.

Why You Should Go

It's 25 minutes from the airport - a brisk trip to your tropical nirvana.

In the Bahia complex (which you have access to), Turquesa is the calmest during the day.

There's an ahh-some children's water park. Your squirts will be tickled pink.

The Family Master Suite has two interconnected rooms. Relax, you can trust the kiddos.
