What I love about this resort:
It opened in 2007, so still nice and new. All rooms are junior suites which means that they are larger than average hotel rooms. I like the Pueblo Principe village area for some great nightlife.
What I wish I could change:
The beach right off the main pool is a little gravely, but if you walk left towards the crescent beach the sand gets much better.
Why YOU should go:
Runaway Bay is just 60 mins from the airport, so a shorter ride than going to Ocho Rios. Great all-inclusive fun with an abundance of eating and drinking options. Perfct for families and couples and with a huge beach, there is always space to spread out.

Gran Bahia Principe Jamaica is a new all-inclusive resort in Runaway Bay offering 24 hour service. This resort has all the services and facilities that are consistent with all of the Bahia Principe Clubs & Resorts, including 5 restaurants, 4 bars, 2 swimming pools, mini club, and a wedding gazebo. The resort even has a Jamaican-style shopping center called Pueblo Principe with shops, a hamburger stand, a disco and a theater.

Enjoy the two lake-type swimming pools that connect and surround the main building, with a children's section. One pool has 3 Jacuzzis. Large solariums and gardens with sunshades and loungers are available for relaxing. There is a mini-club for children and the Amphitheatre offers animation and night-time shows for the entire family.

The new Bahia SPA health and beauty center is next to the beach at one end of the hotel. This center has three massage and treatment rooms, two saunas (one for men and another for women), two Jacuzzis (one hot and the other cold) with marvelous sea views and a fully equipped gym, also with sea views. Enjoy a relaxing massage or change your image by styling your hair with typical Caribbean dreadlocks. Relax and spoil yourself with our extensive range of face, body, beauty and massage treatments and make the most of our body care facilities.

The Club Golden Principe concept offers added value. Club Golden rooms are the same size as the regular Junior Suites but are located on the top 4th and 5th floors. A superior view is not guaranteed but often given. Internet access is provided in the Club rooms (for a fee). Other added values are as follows: 24 hr room service, bathrobes, slippers, coffee makers, beach towels placed in the room, and additional reservations for the a la carte restaurants. Club Golden Principe guests have a different-colored identification bracelet.

RENOVATION UPDATE NOVEMBER 2009: Construction at the Gran Bahia Principe Jamaica is taking place for an additional 100 rooms being added to the hotel. Heavy construction has already been completed, but work will continue on finishing out the project through Summer of 2010. There is little noise/disruption to clients since building is some distance away from main pool and accommodation.
