Rainy days in April
We arrived at the airport and followed the direction on the vocher that we printed, went to the kiosk to check in, received our wrist bands, got on the bus, and went to the hotel. The ride was about 1 hour and 15 min. When we arrived at the Gran Bahia Principe, we were given drinks at the check in desk, in less than 10min we were in our room. The A/C was cold. Dinner reservations were made around the corner from the front desk. Skip the steak restaurant - way too much fat on the steaks. The japanese restaurant was good and full of fun. Rained every day except the day we were leaving, so avoid April if you can. Would we return? Maybe, not in April.
My husband and I needed a getaway so Jamaica here we go. This resort was nice but the service could have been better but not enough to ruin you vacation. ( They are learning give them time). The food is great and the people are nice and friendly. The beaches and pools are beautiful. Just a tip bring a travel mug from home to save you from running back and forth to the bar. Tip the bartender so you wont need so many drinks. (2 dollars go a long way).
But if you go off the resort the people selling are so pushy it might get on your nerves cause they wont and dont give up easy. Also do not forget BUG SPRAY. Overall we had a great time. If you want to go to the restaurant make your reservation upon arrival .
Enjoy.

Great Time!
This was our first trip to Jamaica. We picked the Gran Bahia based on other good reviews of the resort. They were right on. It was a great place with friendly staff that catered to our every need. The beach was wonderful. The facility was clean and beautiful.

Room Information
There are 834 spacious Victorian-style rooms of three varieties: Junior Suite Superior, Junior Suite Sea View and Club Golden. The Junior Suite Superior rooms are fully-equipped with either two full-size beds or one king-size bed, both with canopy. Their fully-fitted bathroom has a hydro massage tub and separate shower, magnifying mirror, hair dryer, amenities and telephone. The rooms also have air conditioning and ceiling fan, satellite TV, direct-dial telephone (external calls with charge), alarm clock, iron and ironing board, mini-bar, sitting room with sofa bed, safe (with charge) and balcony or terrace. The Junior Suite Superior Sea View rooms have the same set-up as the Junior Suites, but with incredible sea views. The Club Golden rooms have all the comforts of a Junior Suite Superior but their guests get a private reception with welcome cocktail, a special bracelet to identify them, 24-hour room service, private telephone helpline, evening turn-down service, coffee maker, towels for the beach and pool (the day of arrival), bathrobe and slippers, safe, Internet and international press in the Club House.
The Club Golden Principe concept offers added value. Club Golden rooms are the same size as the regular Junior Suites but are located on the top 4th and 5th floors. A superior view is not guaranteed but often given. Internet access is provided in the Club rooms (for a fee). Other added values are as follows: 24 hr room service, bathrobes, slippers, coffee makers, beach towels placed in the room, and additional reservations for the a la carte restaurants. Club Golden Principe guests have a different colored identification bracelet.
Gran Bahia Principe Jamaica Hotel only offers suites, so these rooms not only look great, but are huge enough for the whole family.
What We'd Change
The beach is a little pebbly, so make sure you bring your water shoes. The upside is that it makes for truly excellent snorkeling right off shore.
Why You Should Go
There's always something to do at a resort this big: sunbathe au naturel at the beach, lounge at the pool, or enjoy Pueblo Principe's nightlife.

Hotel Description
Gran Bahia Principe Jamaica: All Inclusive Fun for the Family
It's time to let your hair down as warm Jamaican breezes wash over you. Leave your worries behind and step onto the beautiful shores of Runaway Bay, where the all-suite Gran Bahia Principe Jamaica offers all inclusive access to a lake-style, beachfront pool with two swim-up bars for their popular dirty banana cocktails. Between Pueblo Principe shopping and Principito Mini Club for kids, there's fun for everyone at this Victorian-style resort.
Drop off the luggage, grab a swimsuit and head for the private beach: the water in front of the resort is great for snorkeling. Palapas and lounge chairs are available for chilling out, and you can get rid of those pesky tan lines in the au-naturel beach. Head over to the gigantic, beachfront pool for a Red Stripe from one of the two swim-up bars, while the kids splash in the separate kiddie pool. When you've worked up an appetite, try the delicious fare at six restaurants: spicy quail at Garden Grill Steak House is mouth-watering, and a hearty dish of spaghetti keeps the kids happy at Dolce Vita. For an authentic treat, try jerk chicken at the snack bar. The easy fun carries on after sunset at Pueblo Principe, home to the Sports Bar and mini casino if you're feeling lucky, the Karaoke Piano Bar lets you belt out the lyrics to your favorite tunes and Calypso Theatre has dance shows.
Drop the kids off at Principito for face painting and video games while you board a catamaran, go windsurfing or paddle out in a kayak. Book an excursion to Port Antonio and The Blue Lagoon (yes, like the movie) for jaw-dropping sights before heading back to Bahia Spa for a Turkish bath or relaxing massage with ganja oil.
After a day of adventure, the four-poster beds and hydro-massage tubs in the 834 Victorian-style suites have you relaxed and ready for bed in no time. Upgrade to Club Golden for Junior Suite Club Golden: a room with a killer view and 24-hour room service!
