First experience at an all inclusive resort
This was our first experience at an all inclusive resort. We had a wonderful stay and we would recommend the Gran Bahia Principe Coba to others. We had a very enjoyable vacation. The service was excellent, in the restaurants, bars, trolley drivers, etc. The staff was professional, helpful and attentive. The resturants were all pretty good. The a la carte resturants had good menu options. The main buffet and smaller buffet's were also good, considering the amount of food prepared and for the number of people.
Though the resort is large, we never felt overwhelmed or that it was over crowded (we went during our spring break week). It was possible to find a quiet place by the pool or an active, loud one if desired.
The rooms were comfortable and spacious. We requested adjoining rooms and we were accomodated.
There are only a few minor negative comments:
The rooms were a bit humid
The pillows were very, very uncomfortable
You need to find a lounge chair at the pool or beach before 7 am, otherwise you are out of luck- everywhere
No mangoe were ever served
Otherwise, it was a really nice resort and we would consider going back again.
But, don't fly US air. They were awful!
This was my second time vacationling at the Gran Bahia Principe. My first experience was at Tulum; this time I tried Coba. Both are fantastic as you can use the whole resort area. Beaches are outstanding; pools are perfect and the food/beverage is plentiful. My issue was that the rooms are a tad damp and stuffy. Additionally this time the pillows were very old and flat. Moreover, the front desk staff could have been a bit more helpful. They were awesome at check in; but other days, seemed put out to answer questions. Overall, no major complaints and will return in the future.

This resort has everything the other resorts have, but better.Their service was excellent, this is the place to be if you enjoy listening to a 2 or 3 piece band play in the lobby each nite from 8-10, than a show at 10pm, than, rocking and rolling band 11-12 and than disco dancing 12-2am every night!. And they have waiter service throughout the night!!! The pools and beaches are just beauiful. You may have to use their tram buses thru out your stay--especially if your staying at Coba-which is no problem at all (except if everyone is making a mad dash to the beach at the same time) 95% of the the places you want to go to is a 5-20 minute walk, or take the tram.

Fantastic Vacation
Ideal location, beautiful beaches, very clean room and overwhelming number of pools. Gran Bahia Principe Coba is an exquisite, elegant resort with numerous snack bars and drinks. Their restaurants and buffets were better than anywhere I have ever been. If you want the loveliest place on earth; go here. Gran Bahia Principe Coba in Riviera Maya is heaven here on earth!

When would I have to start paying for my trip if I booked it in late August?3 answers
I'm interested in booking the 5 day trip to Rivmaya in late August, it would most likely be 6 people in total, and was wondering when I would have to start making payments, or if there was a down payment I would need to pay, and how much it would be. Also I was wondering if there were any payment plans available. Thank you.
1 year, 14 months ago
Ali
You can pay half upon reservation, which would appear on your next credit card statement, whenever that's closing date is. Say you charge it in May and your statement was already issued, then you'd see the charge in June. They also let you charge the remaining half 20 days before, which would then, have your payment due after you return, again depending on your statement due dates.
mrcccr01
You can break up your payments, but the air fare is secured at first, so the entire air fare has to be paid in full. There is a $25 fee to break up your payments. All payments have to be paid 30 days before the vacation day. Example your leaving Aug 25, so all payments must me in by July 25.
LadyPAndBigTy
It was my experience that payment was do in full at time of booking.

Are kids allowed around the pool bar?9 answers
I would like to know the policy of children around the pool bar and more adult type areas. I understand there are activities and areas for children at this resort, but some parents choose not to take advantage of those facilities. Are children allowed in the adult areas? If children are not allowed in those areas, is this policy enforced?I work with children and I really need a break. If children are allowed in the adult areas... that's fine. I just want to know in advance.

AcoustickChick
Well, the kids were pretty much allowed everywhere but the casino. But for my wife and I, there is so much space and places to be that you can easily find an area to enjoy the resort.
donnie76
Yes, kids are allowed everywhere, and if you're trying to escape children, it may be difficult. HOWEVER, there are so many pools, and some are more child-friendly than others, whereas some are more quiet and there are very few kids. The premier pool at Coba is more quiet than the one with the fountain, for example, or the beach pool at Akumal, which has a lot more families. Bottom line, there are plenty of quiet areas for childless adults, but there are at least some children everywhere! :)
mommywisenyc
yes, although the seats at the bar are usually full with adults. Kids are located with their adults. There aren't any kids just hanging out at the pool bar or any bar.
LoveTraveling
I don't believe they prohibit kids from any area. We visited in Early August and did not notice a lot of small children at the resort at all
MikeyB
We saw a fair amount of children around the pool bar areas and even sitting at the bar at times. I don't know of any policy restricting the children in any areas.
Yvie29
Yes, children are allowed in all areas, but there really were very few small children while we were there and I was not disturbed by any of them in my week there. As a matter of fact, I was wondering why there were so few children...
I wouldn't say there is a lot of nightlife at this resort though. Some dancing - and you are pretty far from a town that is hip like Play del Carmen. One of the reasons we chose this resort was for that reason. We just wanted to relax.
GVHott
To my knowledge, Gran Bahia Principe Coba is a family resort. I cant answer what the "policy" is with regard to children in the bar areas, however there were some children in the lounges, at the pool with the swim-up bar and at various entertainment activities in and near the Main Lobby. My visit was in October, so there were very few children at the resort. I did notice while walking amongst the resorts that some of the smaller pools were unoccupied, so you could "get away" if you wanted. If you want to be where all the action is though, there will likely be children present!
LV2TRVL
we saw kids at the pool bar and in that area. in fact i don't remember not seeing kids anywhere while we were there. Awesome place to go
meme3832905
I did not notice any ADULTS ONLY signs near any pool, there were kids at the big main pools, while there wasn:t at the very small pools, there was a bar at each pool.
