Happy and Satisfied!

I purchased this vacation for my husband's 50th birthday. He's well traveled, but mostly in Europe. He's never been to Mexico, so this was my chance. The great news is he was completely wowed. We couldn't have asked for better weather. The resort was beautiful, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was pretty good, too. When you are with a child, the buffet style is really best, so it was good for us. We had to take our 6 year old with us, but it was a win for him too. For the most part this resort was more on the family friendly side - which is what I wanted. I would like to suggest that you arrange your transportation round trip with Cheap Caribbean. Someone told us that they paid double for cabs, so FYI. Please also make sure you have your luggage situation taken care of before you leave. We had to pay $ 25 per luggage to check in, but all we had were carry ons. We'll know better next time. Now for the not so great news.. I paid for a deluxe ocean front room, and it was more like you have to stand to the far right of the patio to get a good view of the ocean. So, it's not really an ocean front room because we could see more room balconies than ocean depending on where you stand -BUT it was still fine, and we could still see the ocean.

Expected More

I expected more for what I paid, Beds were hard, my back still hurts, that was something never experienced on a hotel, the food wasn't good, no much options, the room I was giving didn't have a view. Good drinks though. I won't return to this resort

Good for first time

our stay overall was ok. Staff was nice except for the concierge who was really pushy trying to get us to go to a "breakfast" in return of cheaper excursions. It was more like waste our day trying to make us become members. Also food wasn't up to my expectations. If you go it's a must to make reservations at one of the restaurants they offer. Otherwise you're going to be stuck with a cheap American buffet. Even though they offered Mexican dishes, it didn't feel like a real Mexican dish. It felt more like something I can have here in U.S. Bar was good, if you tip the guys they will take care of you. They only have draft Dos Equis and sol as your beer choices. We had a problem with our restroom the first 2 days. Water from the tank was overfilling. At one point we had water underneath our bed. also if you want to have a day by the pool make sure you go out there and set your towels before all the spots are gone. If you tip a guy thy will bring an extra umbrella so you can have enough shade, you'll need it after a couple of days. The lounge at night is ok. First night was a good variety of music but the rest of our stay all we heard was typical Mexican music which didn't make sense since 90% of the crowd was foreign. I am South American so I would of enjoyed salsa, merengue, even bachata. I just wasn't pleased on the whole Mexican Cumbia deal. Anyways I will probably not be back at GR Solaris. It was good for our first experience but I expect better next time.

What's to Love

All rooms have balconies with breathtaking, soul-stirring views of either Nichupte Lagoon or the azure/teal waters of the Caribbean. Some even have open air jetted tubs.

Unlimited adult beverages. (Yes, you read that right). And bartenders who will mix up whatever you can think of. So get creative!

On Sunday night, show off your singing skills at Karaoke Night in the lobby - come on, you have a song you love sing.

You can keep your rockin' bod in shape at the Fitness Center, then chill at the Spa with a stress-smashing massage.

What We'd Change

Cancun is a busy place, but that's what you're here for - good times, the beach, pools, and sunny weather.

Why You Should Go

Located in the heart of Cancun - you'll land and be sittin' pretty beachside in no time at all.

Late-night munchies can be satisfied by the Deli, open from 4 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. (Nosh away, any time).

Try the mud wrap at the resort's spa - it'll really brighten up your sun-drenched skin

For you athletes, there's tennis and beach volleyball. (Let's see those guns).

You can enjoy a romantic dinner on the beach for two and listen to the purr of the ocean. (Swoon).

A hot spot for the kiddos - a Mini Club with shallow pools, activities, video games like Nintendo, Wii and Xbox 360. Gotta keep those young ones (teens included) happy and melt-down free!
