GR Solaris Cancun - Very Surprised

We went to the GR Solaris Cancun for a quick inexpensive get-a-way. I had in mind that for the price we were paying, the food would be mediocre and the alcohol watered down. I was very pleasantly surprised. The hotel is lovely and very clean. The staff couldn't do enough to be of service to us. The buffet's were very good and the fine dining restaurants were fabulous. Lot's to do by the pools with the activity staff or just sit by the shore and relax. AND the drinks were awesome. I highly recommend it and we'll be back.

Good value

We stayed at the GR Solaris over Easter. The resort is definitly what the reviews say.It is a great value. The food was good , not the best , but if you can't find something that you like , I think YoU have the problem. The drinks were great. All the negative reviews are terrible. The resort was fine.I would not want to be there for a whole week though, since it is small! The beach was great, well maintained. The seaweed was totally under control. We did upgrade to a balcony room with jacuzzi facing the ocean and it was worth it. We traveled with 10 and 13 yr old boys. They loved the pool area with volleyball. The hotel was clean and staff was great. Shout out to Yulianna-she helped make our stay a little better. We have been to Mexico 5 times now . First time at GR Solaris and we thought it was good!!! The massage outside was awesome~ she did a great job

If it's luxury you're looking for, this isn't it!

The GR Solaris is an ok resort. If you're looking for a budget friendly place, this is it. My personal thoughts from my experience are... The overall appearance of the lobby area is nice and the view when you walk in of the ocean is great, but that's about where the greatness stops! The STAFF aren't overly friendly and don't go out of their way to give that little extra. They seem to just be "doing their job". The ROOMS are clean, but dated with rock hard beds. The walls are paper thin. I could hear people talking plain as day in the rooms next to mine as well as in the hallway. If you're on the lagoon side, you have a lot of road noise as well as loud, bumping music in to the night. I could hear every word of the DJ and the music being played! I was not impressed with the FOOD at all. They do have a variety to choose from but the quality isn't great. I've had cruise ship food that was way better, and I'm talking about the buffet! The guy at the pizzeria would set out pizza but wasn't willing to make more of a certain kind if they were out. My son asked 3 different times if he would make some pepperoni pizza, but to no avail. Once he pointed to an old dried out piece that he wanted him to eat. The other times he wanted him to eat whatever was out, which was nasty if you weren't there to grab it when it first came out. I've been to many all-inclusive resorts in Cancun/Riviera Maya area and everyone of them would make you fresh pizza on demand and acted happy to do it! Nobody expected you to eat the disgusting dried up pizza that had been sitting out in the open for who knows how long. The POOL was nice enough. A lot of chairs, entertainment, and things to do for the kids. The SERVICE was lacking though. It seemed they had one girl working the entire area so you don't see her much. Not necessarily her fault, they may just be understaffed poolside. The BEACH was nice, again with plenty of chairs and beach volleyball. You could always find people to get a game going. The service beachside is basically non-existent. I only saw the same girl from the pool come down to pick up cups and plates. Don't expect to swim in the ocean though. The water is ROUGH with red flags up our entire stay. The TENNIS COURT would have been nice had the net been up. My son & I went out to play and it was balled up on the side of the court. We stretched it out and tried to hang it but it kept falling down, probably bc we didn't know what we were doing! When we asked if someone could put it up they said they'd send someone out but nobody ever showed. Needless to say we played around with the net laying on the ground! In summary, I would not stay here again. Maybe I was expecting too much, but that's because I've been to so many other resorts in the area that provided excellence. I absolutely LOVE Mexico and come at least once a year. This is the second time I've been already this year! I think if you stay here for your first all-inclusive you wouldn't be disappointed because you wouldn't know any better. If you're expecting luxury, this is not your place. If you're expecting quiet, this is not your place. I myself, now know for sure that I prefer the quiet, more luxurious resorts of the Rivera Maya to the loud Cancun Hotel Zone.

GRSolaris

This hotel was very nice. Staff very helpful and polite. Was willing to help us and get us anything we needed. I would definitely recommend this home to families and adults. The hotel had a very nice pool for adults only if that is something that appeals to you. They had plenty of activity going on in the main pool for families. The food was OK, they had a huge variety and certainly you could find something that would appeal to you with the array of different foods. Breakfast was excellent. It was kind of like being on a cruise without the boat but all the other amenities. All alcohol was included which is a plus for some.I really enjoyed the fact that the mini bar in our room was stocked with soda, water and beer at no extra charge. I also heard that i could have asked for other alcohol to be in the mini bar also included. I did not take advantage of that as I found out to late. not a big deal because the bar in the lobby was also readily avail. I am not a big drinker so what I had was a nice plus not to have to take my wallet out. The Solaris makes it very easy for you to have a wonderful vacation with no worries.

What's to Love

All rooms have balconies with breathtaking, soul-stirring views of either Nichupte Lagoon or the azure/teal waters of the Caribbean. Some even have open air jetted tubs.

Unlimited adult beverages. (Yes, you read that right). And bartenders who will mix up whatever you can think of. So get creative!

On Sunday night, show off your singing skills at Karaoke Night in the lobby - come on, you have a song you love sing.

You can keep your rockin' bod in shape at the Fitness Center, then chill at the Spa with a stress-smashing massage.

What We'd Change

Cancun is a busy place, but that's what you're here for - good times, the beach, pools, and sunny weather.

Why You Should Go

Located in the heart of Cancun - you'll land and be sittin' pretty beachside in no time at all.

Late-night munchies can be satisfied by the Deli, open from 4 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. (Nosh away, any time).

Try the mud wrap at the resort's spa - it'll really brighten up your sun-drenched skin

For you athletes, there's tennis and beach volleyball. (Let's see those guns).

You can enjoy a romantic dinner on the beach for two and listen to the purr of the ocean. (Swoon).

A hot spot for the kiddos - a Mini Club with shallow pools, activities, video games like Nintendo, Wii and Xbox 360. Gotta keep those young ones (teens included) happy and melt-down free!
