Less than expected but OKAY
When I booked the resort I was happy with my purchase. Then a few days before our trip I was not pleased with the recent resort reviews. We stayed at the FiestAmericana April 13-17th, 2012.
One out of three restaurants was open and the same goes for the bars. The selection of food was the bare minimum, we only ate to survive. Nothing ever actually looked appetizing. It was the smallest offering of food I have seen and this is our 4th trip to an all-inclusive in Mexico. The resort was dead so there was no energy or entertainment. The room was nice, surprisingly the bed was comfortable. We had the 4th floor which was an okay ocean view. However, the reviews about the sewer smell are not lying! The staff was also just okay, they too had no energy. Baltazar and Mario at the pool bar were the best!
The man-made beach was small but nice. It did not bother us to walk across the street to get to it. The water was wonderful and with amazing fish everywhere. The snorkeling was perfect! It is definitely a snorkeler and divers dream resort if that is your only interest.
By the end of the vacation we enjoyed ourselves by creating our own fun away from the resort. We also ate out a lot which was annoying being that I paid for all-inclusive. We would have starved if we relied on the resorts offerings.
Overall, the Fiesta was okay. I can't say more or less. I just wish they would bump-up the service, food, and listen to their customers reviews!

Would go back
Great service by hotel desk managers, waitstaff, concierge. Everyone friendly and helpful. Grounds are well maintained and clean. Layout is compact and yet you feel there are lots of nooks and crannies and separate areas to hide away and have more privacy. Not a typical beach into ocean situation -- more like a man made beach area set above the ocean level with a wide staircase access to the ocean for easy snorkeling. Nice having 2 separate pool areas, one by hotel and one by beach, so you can choose your activity and noise level. Peaceful versus more typical all inclusive/ loud pop music and group activity area. Very close to town of San Miguel -- taxi ride is $10 each way for up to 4 people. Any dive operation can pick you up at the hotel's dock so it's very very convenient diving. Did not dive with on-site operation, Dive House, although they seem well operated and have several boats that fit up to 12 people and 2 dive masters. Food is sufficiently tasty, not 5 star, but selection is small -- understandably not a lot of people so I personally appreciated not seeing a lot of waste. Renovations started mid week in their main eating area so we were limited to the beach side eating area but who cares when you're basically eating al fresco with an ocean view for all three meals. Rooms are clean but not luxurious, more like a 3-star experience, with working airconditioing. Would recommend asking for ocean facing rooms as you get to see amazing sunsets each evening after a beautiful beach day. Overall a peaceful low-key experience -- and we would go back.
The vacation. the place, the service was more than I expected. Very convenient for divers and snorkelers. PADI dive shop on site. You can be picked up by any dive boat operation and still use the facilities for cleaning and storing equipment. Great snorkeling from the beach and unlimited shore diving, air on site.
