Real Objective Review

Just returned from a seven day stay. Just as other reviews state on cheap Caribbean.com this resorts service staff is excellent. They are very nice and will do anything to try and accommodate the guest. First,The resort itself is very old and run down the rooms are very large in fact we could've easily slept our family of five in one room but cheap Caribbean insisted that I had to purchase two separate rooms even though the room that we had had two full double beds and two sofas. Second, other reviews talked about the A/C. The AC in both of our rooms worked very well, but beware there is no working air-conditioning in the lobby which is where you will find yourself spending a lot of time especially if you wish to get telephone or Wi-Fi service as the Wi-Fi does not work in the rooms or at the pool area. The lobby literally feels like a sauna and you will sweat tremendously. Third, we were always asked to make reservations for the Laguna restaurant we were only able to eat in the restaurant one time during our seven day stay even though every morning we tried to make reservations for the same evening, The guest services Rep will tell us there were no seats available however every evening between 6 and 10 PM there was never more than 10 tables occupied by guest so they basically ration the amount of guest and still will not allow a paying customer to use the facilities. We would've been better off just paying a regular hotel in the lower part of the island and spending our money on dining outside of the hotel which is what we ended up doing most of the evening's and lunches anyway. Lastly is the daily buffet outside in the large Tiki hut restaurant for breakfast lunch and dinner for seven days in a row was the exact same menu, all of it bland and all of it is processed or frozen when it comes to the hot dishes the salad bar was actually done quite nicely and the fruit was always fresh. Again the wait staff is excellent in the outside Buffet as well. This resort is nice for a budget minded family but for the amount of money we spent with cheap Caribbean.com for this seven day trip which included airfare hotel all-inclusive and transportation there were so many more options that we could have spent our money on for a much more, modern up to date resort.

Good for a Budget vacation

You will get everything that an all inclusive has to offer, but do not go in expecting a 5 star resort. The check in process was seamless. The pools and grounds were extremely well kept. The beach is not huge, but it is very nice and we enjoyed having room to sink our toes in the sand. The water was beautiful. The service was good. Throughout our 7 day stay, we never encountered an employee with a bad attitude. The only negatives are the same ones mentioned repeatedly in reviews - the beds are hard, the buffet food is bad, the lobby is hot and the room air conditioners aren't cool enough. I agree with all of those statements; however, nothing on that list was a deal-breaker for us. If you don't require luxury accommodations, El Cozumeleno provides a nice vacation at a reasonable price.

Worst experience ever

So first and foremost, I booked my All Inclusive vacation from 8/3/17-8/7/17. Due to a delay at the airport, we missed our connecting flight to Mexico so we did not arrive until Friday the 4th. As soon as we knew we were not going to make it our Arrival to the hotel on time we immediately called the resort to inform them. Spoke to a female at the resort via phone, Informed her of our situation and she replied that she would make a note in our chart of late arrival also that it would be okay to switch our check in / check out dates. When we arrived at the resort the next day, we were given the run around until one of the managers told us the only way we would be able to stay until Tuesday is if we paid for the night. Like I stated earlier, we booked this All inclusive vacation for 4 nights, so the fact that I had to pay for the 4th night blows my mind. I do not feel like I should of had to pay more money when I paid for 4 nights. I am very unhappy and disappointed.

Good value and nice place if you're not complainer

I stayed for 5 nights at El Cozumeleno as a honeymoon a year after the wedding type of thing. The two best things about El Cozumeleno are the beach and the service people. The beach is amazing, clear blue water, fish swimming all around you, warm water, white sand..just like the photos. Also, at the resort, the workers are amazing people. I love the Mayan people. They are friendly, helpful and great to talk to. The food at the resort isn't bad but isn't great either. But Cozumel is a great place with many good restaurants. I encourage anyone visiting to explore the island, go deep into San Miguel further away from the tourists. The rooms themselves are decent. The pools are very good, and the entertainment on the resort is nice. But like I said, get out and enjoy the rest of the island.

Hotel Description

Dive into El Cozumeleno Beach Resort, an Island Paradise

Ever wish you lived on a tropical island? You can at least visit one when you escape to an all-inclusive, diving paradise at El Cozumeleno Beach Resort. Located in the northern Hotel Zone of Isla Cozumel, just five minutes from downtown San Miguel, this family-friendly home away from home faces the clear blue waters of the Caribbean against sands so white it's tough to spot seashells.

If you're curious about Davy Jones' Locker, the diving and snorkeling opportunities near El Cozumeleno Beach Resort are second to none. Make plans for reef snorkeling, diving lessons and certification and dives to see the amazing Palancar Reef. If pirate ships are more to your liking, swab the deck of a rental sailboat, take a sunset cruise, or schedule a deep-sea fishing charter, all from one location right in front of the resort.

The landlubbers in your crew can lounge on the sands of the serene beach, hang out on the resort's pier or opt for the three-level, free-form activities pool that includes a jetted section and swim-up bar. Grab something to munch at the poolside snack bar, and then relax under the highest tier behind a waterfall or in the 10-person hot tub. If you need a more Zen-like experience, grab a spot by the "quiet" pool, while the munchkins indulge in the mushroom-shaped shower located in the children's wading pool.

On your way back to the hotel, drop your offspring off at the all inclusive kid's club before taking in 18 holes of golf at Cozumel Country Club right across the street. Designed by the Nicklaus Group, the course is not only environmentally friendly, but offers a challenge for everyone from beginners to experienced players. Gather everyone for an early evening meal at the open-air El Cocal then enjoy live entertainment available three nights a week produced by your friendly and courteous staff.

After a full day, you'll be ready for sweet dreams when you retire to an Ocean Front View room. You've earned it. You're on vacation.
