Very Relaxing
We went to celebrate my wife's birthday. It was the firt time ever at a Dreams resort. Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa was really nice and a place to relax. The staff was friendly and helpful. Each time you thanked them for doing something they would reply "Its my pleasure!". The only bad I can speak of was the seaweed on the beach. Too much seaweed along the beach!! People laid out on the beach but did not venture into the water. Most went in the pools as we did.. For me, the food was just OK. However, overall, it was a nice trip and we would go back to Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa!!
I don't like writing reviews like this, but with fierce competition in the Riviera Maya area this needs to be said.
First impressions are lasting ones as they say. Upon checking into the resort in the early evening Dreams Riviera Cancun couldn't find out reservation of 3 Ocean View Rooms. They told us we were supposed to check in the day before and for only 4 nights which was incorrect. We were there for 7 nights and our dates never changed from our original reservation. This information was given with a nonchalant attitude. The person we dealt with didn't seem to have any power to rectify the situation. It took them an hour to find us 3 rooms and they were spread out all over the resort. They promised to move us the next day. At this point we took what they gave us. The next day they told us they would move us sometime between 11am-3pm. But, we should pack all of our stuff because they weren't sure if we would be able to get back into our original rooms between that time. We were in limbo our entire first day being shuffled around. What amazed me about the process was there was no true concern about our experience and no one seemed to be in charge.
The service overall was very poor, from the bartenders to the wait staff. I have to believe this resort doesn't take very good care of their employees due to the consistently bad attitudes of the staff. I have been to this area 6 times and have never experienced service like this.
The restaurants don't take reservations and the average wait was 1 1/2. If you don't mind buffets you can eat there without a wait, but buffets aren't my idea of a 4-5 star vacation. They need a better system! However, the food was good once you finally get seated.
On the positive side, the resort is immaculate. Very clean, nice rooms, and beautiful grounds.The cleaning never stopped!
The ocean in front of the resort has a lot of seaweed so you don't truly see the magnificent turquoise water like you do in Cancun or further south in the Riviera Maya.
Overall, I wouldn't go back and wouldn't recommend this resort. With all of the competition Dreams needs to step it up several notches to be considered a 4-5 star resort. Service, Service, Service!

What a great vacation!
We just got back from 8 fantastic days at Dreams Riviera Cancun. Having read the many outstanding reviews we were expecting a great time, and it was even better than expected! The wonderful staff was there at every turn - we had a private beach dinner planned for a special occasion, and when it was too windy they adapted quickly to still provide a very special experience. The food was much better than one would expect at an all-inclusive, and the restaurants (Bordeaux, El Patio and Portofino) were truly exceptional. My 8 & 5 yr old girls enjoyed their time at the Explorer's club as well as the entertainment folks at the pool.. Seems there was a show every night with great talent. We can't wait to go back! FYI - private transport is the way to go - there was someone with our name on a sign waiting for us - we got to the airport over 1 1/2 hours before some else on our flight - they had to stop at multiple hotels on the way to Dreams.
Overall, a terrific place w/ outstanding staff. 5 star friendliness. However if you go and receive a room assignment that overlooks the wooden central 'boardwalk', proceed directly back to the Front Desk and ask for another room location. Don't even think of "giving it a try" for 1 night. It's not worth unpacking your toothbrush. The noise level day & night will undo any relaxation you may derive from the rest of the resort.

Serene & beautiful accommodations best recommendations2 answers
Room w view, close to infinity pool, beach, restaurants.....cannot walk very long distances. Just want to be surrounded by water, palm trees & beach plus quiet. Power rest. What is a plunge room? Looking for privacy especially in spa areas. Accommodations, pools, scenary & kind and respectful service are premo concern. We like our privacy. One of our best vacations? Private villa with private pool @ Pavilions & Pools St. Thomas. We are too far away from St. T and are looking for a direct flight to Mexico w better pricetag. Recommendations?.

This particular resort does offer rooms with views. The price for each view does vary as it depends on the resort's availability and the dates of travel. A plunge room includes a small pool located outside of the room and usually on the balcony or patio. Airlines do offer nonstop flights to Cancun from a select number of US cities.

Yes, it is a small bar with top shelf booze and a very friendly bartender that will make anything. I loved going in the morning to get coffee and lates.

It has an indoor private area with a bar between the main lobby building and the pools. I did not notice an outdoor private area designated near the pool/beach.

No matter what dates in June I select at Dreams Riviera Cancun, I'm not offered an upgraded PC room. Having vacationed at this resort chain, we definitely want the PC. What is the problem?????

We were not offered this upgrade at Dreams, or the Secrets Resorts both times we visited.

What happens is the hotel and all the tour companies they work with are allocated a certain number of these rooms. Although they may be sold out, for example, on Cheap Caribbean, Apple Vacations may still have availability or the hotel might. I ended up booking with Cheap Caribbean for that very reason - they still had PC rooms available.

Yes, Our first room had a jacuzzi on the patio/balcony. We upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite and the master also had a jacuzzi on the patio/balcony

We had the most simple room and it had a pretty big tub with jets in it, that's what I would call an in room jacuzzi.

I believe all in-room bathtubs are jacuzzi/jetted style. You have to upgrade to the Preferred Club rooms to get a private jacuzzi on your balcony.

Dreams Riviera Cancun is a great place to have a destination wedding. The resort has many amenities in order to make your wedding day special, including multiple wedding package options. Also, if you meet certain criteria, you will also receive free nights for a return stay to celebrate your anniversary. Regarding the beach, while tides and weather can affect the water, it is a large beautiful white sand beach.
