Snooze button worn out? Book a stay at Dreams Punta Cana Resort & Spa, and wake up to the sound of Caribbean waves in the Dominican Republic. Winner of a host of awards, including Travelocity's 2010 Excellence Award and Thomas Cook's Marque of Excellence, this resort is a fantasy of perfection, with fringed palms swaying over one of the Dominican Republic's largest, free-form pools. If you arrive wearing your swimsuit, send your bags up to the room, climb in at the lobby entrance and start your dream vacation with a float down to the beach, with a stop at the swim-up bar, of course.

Worst Service Possible
I will only say that I would never recommend this "resort" to anyone. I attended for a wedding and I myself have had very positive experiences with AM Resorts (I was married at NOW Jade with great accommodations and service). I was shocked firstly at the rooms, they are extremely small, smelly and poorly maintained (cracked and/or unevenly plastered walls). On several occasions throughout our week's stay, we had infestations of ants and other large bug visitors throughout the room, including the bed. On our first full day, we returned to the room to see many service people in there and the toilet off the wall with flooding throughout the bedroom. Our bags were wet and all of our clothes began to smell of a urine tinged mildew. When we voiced our complaints, we were met with attitudes of "well, what do you want us to do". We are Spanish speaking and so there was no interpretation issues. The customer service is horrendous, they did nothing to ease our issues. We offered to pay to upgrade but even then they wouldn't accommodate us, we finally accepted a downgraded room (from swim out to reg/deluxe). I have never experienced a hotel or resort messing up so wholly and then offering a DOWNGRADE. There were a few people working in the restaurants that were very pleasant and we definitely showed our appreciation to them but overall this resort was a nightmare. Beware of the many fake reviews on trip advisor! Also, we are not a high maintenance crowd, we just expected to experience a vacation after paying a decent amount to travel and stay there. Throughout our stay we were met with various other people also complaining about the horrendous rooms. Again, I would not go back if they paid me!
My boyfriend and I just returned from our stay at Dreams Punta Cana, and we were both very impressed! As soon as we entered the lobby we were greeted with a friendly "welcome home" from the front desk (and a glass of champagne, which is always nice after a long flight.) The grounds of the resort are spectacular.
I could go on forever, but to sum it up: Dreams is a beautiful resort with great service. The pool is amazing (and HUGE). I recommend upgrading to a Preferred Club room. The rooms are much bigger, you get a private balcony with your own jacuzzi tub, and you have special access to the "Members Only"club house. The members only area has its own bar, snack area, concierge desk, and free internet. The restaurants that we tried ( Oceana, El Patio, and Portofino) were all pretty good. However, definitely try the World Cafe for their breakfast buffet. Yummy! 24 hour room service is included, but we tried several items and they were all just....o.k. One last thing, BOOK A MASSAGE! The spa is gorgeous!
We stayed at both Dreams and Excellence in Punta Cana so I thought I'd do a quick comparison. The biggest difference is that Excellence is adults only and Dreams includes families. Also, at Excellence, the power goes out all the time but not once at Dreams. The food is better at Dreams, too. However, at Dreams, they had this inedible lobster bisque and we watched all the other tables order it and not eat it. That was entertaining. As much as I really like Excellence, Dreams was an awesome resort; much better than I had expected.
At Dreams, the safe had some issues locking and sometimes you have to try a few times before it locks. Always test it before you walk away from your valuables. The wifi at Dreams was a little frustrating because even though you are entitled to 24-hour access to it in the preferred package, you have to get a new password every 12 hours.
Finally, it is a really long walk from the beach to the lobby, so don't forget anything and then have to make extra trips back and forth.

great resort with ok beach
The resort has a great pool to make up for the beach. We upgraded to the VIP & very glad we did, we got private bar with top shelf booze & good bottled beer. We also got free internet & other little things that added up to a great vacation.
If you want to go into the ocean, bring water shoes, because thee are sharp rocks & coral all over, I cut my foot pretty bad.
overall I would reccommend this resort. Plus it's a small walk away from a small market if you dare leave the resort. We organized a small group with people we met in the VIP bar.

Dreams Punta Cana has a maximum occupancy of 4 to a room regardless of age. Your best bet for finding a hotel that can accommodate your party of 5 would be to use the gold Create Your Own Vacation box on the left side of our home page. Simply pick your destination, travel dates, and departure city then choose one room with 2 adults and 3 children, This will bring up all of the hotels available that rooms that can hold 5 people in a single room.

The standard room is very small. Double beds. Don't think two adult and three kids would be comfortable

You may visit http://www.dreamsresorts.com/drepc/spa-experience.html for Spa information at Dreams Punta Cana. CheapCaribbean.com does not have ratings for spa treatments.

It was $70 for 50 minutes per person but if you talk to a sales guy and get a package they sometimes offer a discount. The resort is awesome I went two years ago and I would love to go back.

They had a special going when my husband and I were there and we both could have had an 80 minute massage for $180.00....$90 each.

Can you swim right off the beach of Dreams Punta Cana?4 answers
We had heard there is a lot of coral, so we were wondering if you had to go farther down the beach to swim?

The beautiful beach at Dreams Punta Cana is swimmable.
DanielleCC
No, you can't swim off the beach at the resorts. The water on the Atlantic Ocean side of the island is not really swimable because of the rough Atlantic waters. I heard that Puerto Plata has better beaches for swimming.
LeslieH
No, there are also no rooms facing the beach. The swim out rooms are just rooms that open to grass.

Do they have a Honeymoon suite on the ground floor?2 answers
10 months ago
Deb
According to the resort, the Honeymoon Suites are located on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors in buildings #6-9. If a ground floor room is desired, it can be requested at the time of booking, however room placement is always just a request, and can never be guaranteed.

can you have dinner on the beach1 answer

Resorts can usually make special arrangements for guests to have a private dinner on the beach. There could be an additional charge for that service and you should be able to inquire or set up the arrangements directly with the Concierge.

wondering what to believe1 answer
We are thinking about visiting dreams puntacana next Jan. But I have read so many different reviews don't know what to believe. Are the rooms that run down? What about the beache not good for swimming? Can't afford perfered room over 4000.00 $ for the two weeks we would be staying. Can anyone tell the real truth about this resort.--

The resort is lovely and the rooms are very pretty and nicely appointed. The beach is beautiful and faces the Atlantic so there is a bit more surf than what the Caribbean offers but is very swimmable. If you are looking to travel in jan 2013 I would suggest looking for specials coming out in late summer/early fall and you may find the pricing a little more agreeable.
