Not the worst but... Disappointed

• The staff was nice and usually very responsive. Even if the issue wasn’t resolved to my expectations they at least tried. • Service was good. • The outside appearance of the resort was beautiful, clean and well maintained. The grounds crew did a great job keeping the landscaping well manicured and clean. • We never had problems finding lounge chairs out by the 2 main pools, kids pool or on the beach. • We paid extra for a room in the Preferred Club area but was disappointed with the “Upgraded mini-bar service” which only included bottled water, sodas and beer. The sodas and water came in handy at night but it wasn’t quite what I expected when purchasing the package. • The rooms were small, hot and didn’t offer much privacy (no doors on the bathroom area and a big stained glass window separating the shower area from the main room). So if traveling with older kids or another couple you I would recommend upgrading to a suite. • The AC in the room wouldn’t get below 25 deg C/77 deg F even on high. I complained several times and asked to be moved to a different room but they kept sending a maintenance guy out to take a look at the AC and he would just turn the thermostat down lower which still didn’t resolve the issue. Finally the night before our last night there (5th night of a 7 day/6 night trip), the AC started leaking through the ceiling and they finally moved and upgraded us to a suite our last night but by that time it was too little too late. • The buffet dining area is not fully enclosed and air conditioned so it gets pretty hot in there (at least during the summer months). • We've been to quite a few all-inclusive resorts and understand that you’re not going to get the highest quality food in that environment but even taking that into consideration the food selection/quality at Breakfast and Dinner was disappointing. But I do think they did a great job with lunch and the different daily themes and food being offered at the beach and pool area. • No reservations were required for the specialty restaurants which I initially thought was great but I later learned that this sometimes meant that you had to wait 45-50 minutes to be seated after showing up and if you get there early before they opened at 6 pm, there was sometimes a bunch of other people with the same idea in mind and waiting to rush the doors as soon as they opened up. So you might still end up waiting in the heat after getting dressed up in your evening attire. • There was quite a bit of seaweed in the ocean front of the resort but the grounds crew did a great job of keeping it cleaned up once it washed ashore. • The resort was mostly an open air facility and a lot of the evening/night activities and social events were outside and not in air conditioned space so it can get pretty hot and uncomfortable in the common areas most nights. • Smaller resort but they did a good job setting up different events and themes each day to make good use of the limited space. • There were only 2 large resort sized pools, 1 kid’s pool that was about 2-2.5 ft. deep, 1 medium sized pool in the Preferred Club area but it was usually crowed and tough to find lounge chairs over there, and 1 Preferred Club adults only pool which was pretty nice and quiet and had access to their own bar with premium liquors but if you're traveling with kids that's not an option.

Ok

First time here. Was nice but food could be better. Used Amstar for pick up from airport to hotel. Horrible company. They don't care about anything except taking your money. All they want to do is sell excursions and make more money. Very rude employees that work for the company.

Amazing!

Our stay was amazing! Food is great! Service is great! Everyone is always at your service. Loved the 24 hr room service! There were several pools so it was never crowded. The bartenders are the best! The beach was so relaxing and breath taking. The entertainers are really fun to be around and try their best to keep everyone involved in all the fun activities. Witnessed a lot of beautiful weddings which was a plus for me! Everyone was so friendly and caring! The cleaning lady was the sweetest! Our favorite restaurant was the Mexican one! So delicious! But overall, the food was great everywhere! Loved that there was a coffee shop inside the resort full of delicious goodies! The only negative thing I'll have to say was the room. The rooms need major updates! Was a little dissapointed about our room but I didn't let that ruin our trip.

I usually don't do reviews but this place is not at all what it's claimed to be. The rooms r very dated n small, the room I was given did not had hot water, sink was clod, n bathroom was broken. Was changed to a different room but a couple of days later. There is a dress code for men which we were never informed off when we booked w cheap Caribbean. A rep of cheap Caribbean also told me there was no preference there since it was the same price for everyone making it easy for everyone n there was not need for a bracelet, while is true u don't need a bracelet there is different categories n if u r not on the PREFERED list there is restrictions for u . Nothing good for the kids. If u r expecting to have Dominican good u will not get it if u go for a few days. They do ha a Dominican day but the menu is not impressive. Front desk Customer service is the worst. To give a complain u have to talk to a lot of people.my expirience there was not good at all. Would never go back there.

What's to Love

Chilly towels and sparkling champagne welcome you, remove the funk, and ready you for pampering.

The endless turquoise and fringy palms that grace the beach. Swoon.

Colonial-style suites with tropical views (some with a Jacuzzi), or ocean views that take your breath away.

Explorer's club (kids 3-12) that offers everything from sand castle competitions to arts & crafts.

Red Cross certified staff supervise the aforementioned club. A relief, right?

Parents get a pager from the Explorer's club, should they be needed for anything.

Spa treatments like the Chocolate Body Wrap and Aromatic Moor Mud Hydrotherapy.

Cuddly soft bathrobes and slippers in every room. Your bod will thank you.

VIP Butler service - an actual butler, late check-out, packing service and more. Indulge, much?

Couples' private candlelit dinner by the ocean, for a fee, but remember, life is short.

What We'd Change

With just three pools, a resort of this quality is bound to get a little crowded at times. What better excuse to grab your own Jacuzzi suite long before you arrive?

Why You Should Go

Only 20 short minutes from the airport so you'll be in paradise zippity-hippity.

Upgrade to the Preferred Club and get upgraded rooms, a private beach, two private pools, and much more.

There's deep-sea fishing close by at the Nautical Club in Cabeza de Toro. You'll get hooked.

Go horseback riding, for a fee, and release your inner beach buckaroo.

Fab 18-hole and 27-hole golf courses are only 15 minutes away.

Water aerobic classes are offered if you don't want to go solo and do them in the ocean.

After you've got your glow, you can check out ping pong, darts and billiards.

Water-oriented stuff includes kayaking, windsurfing, ocean trampoline, and intro to scuba.

For non-water time, you can play bocce ball and chess on a giant board.

Weddings here are big. Inquire and they'll get you all set up.

If you want to be a human slingshot, there's Euro-bungee.

For the students, there's Spanish and dance lessons.
