Set on four acres at the very tip of the Yucatan Peninsula, Dreams Cancun Resort & Spa is among the island's most appealing places to stay.
The architecture of Ricardo Legorreta, contemporary and sleek, with angles is inspired by Mayan architecture, was designed to offer incredible views of the sunset and sunrise from your private balcony. The resort consists of two wings: a long, five-story structure with a sloping pyramid face and a 17-floor tower of overlapping, upright rectangles. Inside, instead of the usual slick-marble lobby floor, Legorreta employed roughly cut charcoal-gray marble paving stones for texture and threw magenta rugs here and there. In addition to sensory stimulation, the resort offers a full range of facilities and services. Among them are a European-style health-and-beauty spa with men's and women's sides and a complimentary fitness center; a 24-hour business center; a shopping arcade; children's activity programs during high seasons; archeological excursions; and a nightclub, Azucar, where salsa and other Latin beats drive all-night dancing. Like all major Cancun hotels, the resort has a water-purification system.

Explorer's Club for kids has fully supervised children's program with arts and crafts, games, weekly camp out adventure, big screen and movies on the beach. Daily activities open from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm for kids from 3 to 12 years old. *All Explorer's Club personnel and babysitters are certified. To be able to baby-sit they must go through an eight hour certification program endorsed by the Mexican Red Cross. A doctor leads the certification. Babysitting is separate from the Explorer's Club with a cost of appox. $10 USD per hour plus a $10 additional charge for a taxicab if the babysitter needs to come to the hotel or stay after 8:00 pm.
