For fine dining you need not venture any farther than the hotel lobby, where La Galeria offers international cuisine, as well as Panamanian favorites. The pineapple chicken salad is fruity and delicious, but it's also a visual treat--served in half of a hollowed-out pineapple. Top things off with a full-bodied Balboa beer at Memories Sports Bar in the lobby. And don't worry about the calories--the nicely equipped fitness center never closes!
From the Crowne Plaza Hotel, the Panama Canal's Miraflores Locks are only about five miles away. Feel what it's like to go through the locks when you try the navigation simulator at the visitors' center. Three other exhibits cover canal history, environmental issues and world trade. For a beside-the-scenes look at the canal, take the hour-long rail trip across the isthmus. Keep your camera ready; the Panama Canal Railway parallels the canal through the rainforest and across narrow causeways.

Built in the mid-20th century, it is the only example of Gothic-inspired architecture in Panama.
