overall great time
I had a great time at this hotel, I am a person that rarely write reviews because I think people nit pick about every little thing....I think this was wonderful for the price we paid...my only complaints is that they ran out of wash clothes and had us waiting over an hour but management took care of us and compensated us for the inconvenience....also it was weird having the ktichen area in the bathroom and the bathroom door did not have a lock on it. It was just sliding doors, I would have also liked it more if there was a microwave in the room but the bed was comfy and the room was clean, the people were also really nice, the casino sucks though. I would recommend this hotel....especialyl for the pool and beach area!!! the view is breathtaking!!!
The trip was great. Rented a car and drove everywhere. The hotel was convenient located and lively.
The only negative part of the trip is discovering that Spirit Airlines charges $40 for each CARRY-ON bag! YES, CARRY-ON. I wish Cheap Caribbean Vacations had alerted me so that I could have booked on Jet Blue or have packed 1 larger check-in bag for $38 which would have saved me $84.00.
NEVER FLY SPIRIT AIRLINES!!!!!!!!!!!
Quality time :Puerto Rico and Conrad Condado Plaza
The hotel was a high quality experience particularly for its desk service and general guest care.
I did not find the restaurants welcoming, though there was a variety, from medium price to top dollar.
The building is much too cold in the public areas including the casino.
The pools are very nice, with attentive bar service and swim ups.
Beach security is a real problem in that the presence of a public beach on the property makes them obsessed with checking whether you are a guest of the hotel based on whether you have a hotel beach towel and/or a wrist bad with the right color for the day. That they are not running beach and towel access from the front desk with assigned cards for turn-in and retrieval is a bit archaic.....I called it a wrist band band fetish.
The rest of the hotel service, including my first ever available, full AND working ice machine made the stay generally a real pleasure.
The lagoon and its iguanas is a treasure right in the middle of the active traffic area....hard as it is to believe.
Specifically for Cheap Caribbean.Com, my reservation was set up for 3 nights instead of six. The printout given me to sign was printed in very small, fine print that I was to checkout 4 days earlier than my reservation. The desk advised that it was a Cheap Caribbean error and not theirs. They corrected the problem and booked me into a different room than the original planned. Cheap Caribbean should check on this error, either way.
The transfer agent, Elegant Steering does not wait outside as described in my docs, but inside the baggage area, and I initially missed them and needed help to get someone to go back into the terminal to take care of me.
My history excursion through old San Juan was fabulous. I had and got more from the old city than I ever thought was there, from Ponce de Leon's tomb, the White House, the fabulous forts at either end, San Juan gate, the ladies of Rogtiva, the incredible wall around the city and so much more. I was totally whelmed.
The only negative I found with the people of PR was with the bus drivers. They have terrible people relations, are all with attitude and totally unfriendly, where all of the rest of the population, residents and service people so welcoming, helpful and forthcoming. (I know it's all of them because I was in the terminal and they are ALL the same.)
I will be wanting a return trip to Puerto Rico in the future and very pleased with my choices this time.
Oh, I had rain on at least three days re: my rain protection certification.

Why is there a British and Canadian symbol next to the price? Are prices given in U.S. dollars? Thank you.6 answers

Mel
All prices are given and charged in US Dollars. If you click on the other symbols the price will be converted for your reference.
KellyCC
You can get the price in those currencies as well. If you want US dollars just click the US flag.
BrianL12
I paid in dollars it is probably informational only.
MsZeta
Yes, prices are in US dollars.
Freijegirl
All prices were in US dollars
Nandhini
Prices should be US dollars.

How much would you estimate for food since this is not an all inclusive package?11 answers

There were 2 of us and we arrived Wednesday evening and left Sunday afternoon and our total spent on food was about $100/day

Food in Puerto Rico (at least in Old SAn Juan and Condado ) is very expensive. Hotel is outrageous so find otherwise, very cheap alternative is subway for lunch and Starbucks or subway for breakfast, both within walking distance. Dinner for 2 at least $75-100 with 1 drink each, if drink more,,,expect to add more. Lunch was at least $40 or more for two.
jostor
For a couple about $160.. a day food is very expensive!!
linan
other areas of the resort were charging $48 per day per person. But the food component was obviously cheaper at the hotel.
Freddie
That would depend on how often and hungry you are. The prices are comparable to regular restaurant prices. There are local eateries in walking distance. I eat five small meals per day so I felt one meal was way too much food. I resorted to eating appertizers. Gratuity included in most places.
MsZeta
For a couple we spent approx. $400.00 for seven days. That included drinks that we purchased from the liquor store. A few groceries and snacks to keep in the room The food in the hotels was pricey. So we walked a couple blocks down from the hotel and found many different eateries along the strip that were inexpensive. A complete breakfast for two less than $20.00.
vero41
A dish range from. $10-$40. Average about $20 for an entree.
Worldseeker
I always say... don't go on vacation, on a Walmart budget. And depending on how much you eat, and drink... average about $100 a day, for 2 people. But I do enjoy myself on vacation.
Paris
From my experience, if you eat at the hotel, don't expect to pay less than $15 per meal.
DioneB
I would plan for food expenses to be similar to those that you find in the continental US. Restaurants onsite are as spendy as domestic restaurant hotels. There are some restaurants in the area, but not many. In Condado, the best place we ate at was Tijuana's. Unbelievable!!
Old San Juan offers a wide variety of restaurant choices. If you want something really cheap, you're basically stuck with fast food places that you'd find elsewhere. Most restaurants we choose were sit down style places with menu price points anywhere from $10 to $40 a plate. We did plan ahead a bit and purchased some Groupons for Puerto Rico (www.groupon.com.pr). This helped us same some money, but also presented a challenge since we didn't know where many of the places were.
If you are drinkers, buy your booze from the duty free store at the airport before heading into Old San Juan. The drinks at the hotel are generally good, but expensive.
AboundingJoy
There are so many restaurants withing walking distance of the hotel that we only ate at the hotel once. We paid $15 to $20 for a dinner at a local restaurant.
JoTMS
If u eat at the hotels restaurants or any where on the strip, for 2 people expect to drop $20-30 for breakfast, $60-70 for lunch and $80/100+ for dinner.
Downtown and Old San Juan offer way less and far more yummy food options that would run u as low as $6 for 2 empanadas and 2 soft drinks. However a taxi is going to run you about $30 round trip to there. The bus is only .75 cent per person each way ;-)
Samara
Food in PR is pricey.

How do I make arrangements for a person in a wheelchair?3 answers
11 months ago
LilRedDeltahood
If a passenger is travelling with their own wheelchair I would suggest booking with an agent so that they can contact the resort to confirm that there are handicap accessible rooms available and can request one when booking. These requests are not guaranteed and are subject to availability. If the individual would like to rent a wheelchair at the resort you would need to arrange that directly with the resort as there may be additional costs incurred. An agent may be able to assist with that as well.
ccsusan1
Cheap Carribean also have great customer service and the price does not change when you make arrangements by phone. The hotel is wheelchair accessible.
MsZeta
You can contact the hotel concierge Miss. Leah Rossi. I don't have the contact number right off hand but if go onto the trip advisor site and punch in Conrad San Juan, you can find the telephone number. Ask for her and i'm sure she can assist you with whatever you need. She is great. Enjoy your trip

By specifying that you need a handicap accessable room..

Prices are based on "double occupancy". What if 3 of us are travelling?8 answers
11 months ago
Bill
I would suggesthat the 3rd person pay a half-price charge like when you book 3 in a cabin on a cruise ship.
NoelandLuz
I traveled with three and I think the pricing was pretty close to linear - 1.5X the price of just a couple. The room is adequately sized for 3, but the bathroom was a bit cramped.
Freddie
Prices are based on double occupancy. If you add a third person to the reservation it will then calculate itself with an "extra adult" in the room. The first two adults will be charged as a double occupancy rate and the third will be charged as an "extra adult". If you need assistances for pricing please contact CheapCaribbean at 1.800.915.2322.
DanielleCC
Room sleeps four with two double beds. So don't worry you will have plenty of room.
MsZeta
That was a downside as there were 5 of us travelling. The odd person does end up paying more. There was no way around it short of 3 in a room.
Nandhini
Is the third one under 18? If they are, the rate is the same.
Worldseeker
You can book 3 people, their price may be a lil higher. You would get a room with 2 double beds.
Paris
I travel on a budget. I recommend eating at the local eateries. They also have Subway and Wendy's on the strip. I stayed for a 4 day and I payed probably about $30-$35 days.

Is there a resort fee? If so is it included in the rate that I am quoted?3 answers
I am looking to purchase a 4 night stay with airfare but before I book I wanted to know if there is an additional resort fee that we are charged at check-in?

At CheapCaribbean.com, we don't like our clients to have any surprises when they are on vacation, therefore we include all resort fees, maid fees, energy surcharges, etc. in the pricing of our vacation packages.
KristinCC
Just for your incidentals..nd credit card r debit card...
929nikki
I paid no additional fees except parking at the Conrad San Juan Condado Plaza, they were already included in the price of the trip.

Since we are 3 and the pricing is based on double occupancy, do you suggest that I book one extra person and get 2 double rooms?2 answers
1 month ago
New Jersey
When pricing for 3 people the resort considers the 3rd person to be an extra adult which is lower rate than the first 2 people on the reservation. To recieve the best pricing option for you please contact us at 1.800.915.2322.
DanielleCC
Maybe so..the beds are platform beds and room is a lil tight...you maybe better off getting the extra room...

Is there any resort in puerto rico that offers and all inclusive meal/beverage plan? What is the "america" plan?3 answers

Hermitage, Pa
All resorts in Puerto Rico do not offer an all inclusive option.
DanielleCC
No. I discovered Puerto Rico only has European plans. But, I stayed at the Conrad San Juan Condado. This location provided me with inexpensive meal (Denny's, Chiji's) and entertainment options within walking distance. So no need to pay high hotel prices for food and beverage.
MDDCNative
No place in Puerto Rico offers all inclusive....not an option

Hotel Description
Stunning Views from Conrad San Juan
The intoxicating mystique of Puerto Rico is just one reason to choose Conrad Condado Plaza hotel in San Juan. Straddling the Condado Peninsula, it is the only luxury hotel facing both the Atlantic and Condado Lagoon. From this prized setting, the hotel offers stunning waterfront and historic San Juan views.
Water is at the heart of Conrad San Juan, and if open water is the ticket for you, the steel-blue waves of the Atlantic or the inviting waters of the lagoon beckon. If sand and surf aren't your thing, don't worry. The resort boasts three pools, including a saltwater pool, a freshwater pool and a lap pool, as well as two spa Jacuzzis. When the rays of the sun give you a hankering for something refreshing, paddle over to the swim-up bar and order a local beer. For younger enthusiasts, a wading pool and a playground are available. Watch as the waterslide elicits giggles, smiles and squeals of delight from kids. And if you're really brave, take the plunge yourself!
Exploring San Juan or other parts of Puerto Rico is easy from Conrad Condado Plaza Hotel. Just minutes away, you'll discover the romance of Old San Juan along cobblestone streets, or do a little time traveling with a visit to the ruins of Morro Fortress. A slightly longer trip of about 45 minutes takes you to the natural wonders of Yunque Rain Forest.
When the sun dips below the horizon, trade swim togs for something more elegant, then head for a superb meal at Pikayo, a renowned restaurant reviewed by Conde Nast Traveler. The cuisine is "a fusion of exotic ingredients" from Puerto Rico, Africa and East Europe. After a meal of Alaskan king salmon, or perhaps truffle-cheese empanadillas, satisfy your craving for excitement at the 24-hour casino.
As you're winding down, stop by the in-house Starbucks to sip a cappuccino while telling Facebook friends about your amazing day. Then head up to your Ocean Vista Room to watch the moonlight on the water before turning in for the night.
