When transforming this former club into a deluxe retreat, the designers made sure they respected its history. Artful Old World touches blend seamlessly with modern amenities. All 96 rooms have a private balcony or patio and some have private access to the stunning pools.

Colony Club Hotel features four lagoon-style pools framed by lush tropical gardens. Float up to Sunset Bar and Deck for swim-up service. And since Sunset Bar and Deck is accessible from the beach, you can quench your thirst, whether you're lounging by the pool or enjoying 400 yards of fine white sand. Splash around in the sea or stay active with the water sports. Hop on a banana boat or hang tight for a tube ride. Then take it down a notch with low-key, stand-up paddling.

Hungry? Sunset Bar and Deck hosts three themed evenings, like the popular Lobster and Jazz Night, where guests indulge in seafood while listening to soulful sounds. There's also Laguna Restaurant for leisurely lunches with a spectacular view of the pools. At Planter's Bar, you can relax in rattan seats with a pre-dinner drink to whet your appetite. Finally, if you want even more variety, Colony Club participates in Elegant Hotels' dine-around program; getting around is simple when you take the free water taxi the sister resorts.

Location

Located at Porters, St. James, on the famous west coast of Barbados just 40 minutes' drive from Grantley Adams International Airport and 20 minutes from the cosmopolitan capital of Bridgetown. Fashionable shops, Barbados handcrafts and arts and a variety of ethnic restaurants are only 10 minutes away.

There is a $1.50 per-room, per-night Optional Tourism Fund Levy that will be added to your bill, payable upon check-out at the resort should you wish to contribute.

Age Restrictions

Children under the age of 12 are not permitted at the resort for travel February 1-29, 2012. If you arrive at this resort with children under 12 during this travel period, you will be denied check-in.

Meal plans are available, and Colony Club also offers a dine-around program with Elegant Hotels' sister properties, including Crystal Cove, Tamarind and The House. Transportation between properties is provided via a complimentary water taxi.

Description: This smoke-free restaurant offers regular dinner service, but closes during theme nights, when dinner is served at the Deck by the Sunset Bar. Alternately, the Laguna may host theme nights when weather conditions do not permit service on the open deck.

Description: Poolside and adjacent to the expansive beach, catch the sunset from a wood deck furnished with teak umbrella tables, rattan chairs. During the day, it offers light fare; three evenings the themed dinners include the popular Lobster and Jazz night, Bajan Fish Grill and Seaside Grill. Dinner seatings begin at 7:30pm.

Beach

The resort sits by a 400-yard beach on Barbados' Platinum West Coast. Complimentary towels, lounge chairs and umbrellas are provided, and a wide variety of water sports are available at no extra charge.

The Sunset Bar and Deck is adjacent to the beach and provides daily drinks service and theme dinners several nights a week.

Pools

The resort features four lagoon-style, freshwater swimming pools meander through seven acres of tropical, palm-filled gardens. Complimentary towels, lounge chairs and umbrellas are provided. Swim-up bar service is offered at the Sunset Bar.
