We keep going back
This was our 3rd time to Club Ambiance. We love it there. The staff does not see you as a $$$ sign, but are dedicated to you. The entertainment team of 'Storm & Omar' are awsome, making sure you are kept busy all day with quizzes/games etc. The only drawback is there is no 'real' beach, only coves. It's well worth it. We will keep going back to our 'home away from home'.

Great Staff!
This was my first trip to the beautiful island of Jamaica. The resort was very clean and the people there were very nice and always greeted you with a smile. This is a good resort for couples who want private and more intimate feel of a smaller resort. Our room was nice with a balcony overlooking the water. The television was out dated but we didn't come to watch TV. The food was fantastic! Staff was always ready to help you. The only problems we has was the Internet was $10 for 24 hours but we had so many problems with it not working properly and the signal was low. But the let us use the computer in the lobby and they extended the internet time for us. We also had an iron that was broken and they replaced it right away. Hot water was fine and air conditioning in the room worked great. The best part was the beautiful beaches great food and they have a wonderful staff. Take your own water socks for snorkeling and climbing the falls. Take plenty of American money for bargaining and tipping.

Very Dissapointed!
Let me start off by saying, we are not those people who are hard to satisfy and complain about everything. We are laid back go with the flow and usually have a Great time no matter where we go... I regret to say that that was not the case with our trip to Club Ambiance!! The North side of the island is totally different from the South side as far as the people are not as friendly and the beaches are manmade and very rocky.
Our ROOM:: No coffee maker and when we did get one it took an hour to brew 4 cups. No bottled water offered in our empty minifridge. $2.00 in the gift shop. Husband had to fix cable wire to get T.V to work. A.C. filters had to be washed in shower to get it to work. Our bathroom door got locked and all they did was take the latching mechanism out. They didnt have a key im guessing to unlock it. No hot water one day and No water at all the next day..
STAFF:: Out of all the staff i can say that only 2 of them were nice to us!! Bartenders totally ignored us after my niece tipped one of them a $20 bill! And 1 didnt even know how to make mixed drinks! Manager told my husband, when he asked about bottled water for our room, that Club Ambiance was a 3 star resort NOT 5!.. Really?
And also, i was there to celebrate my 50th Birthday... I had read MANY reviews from people who had stayed here for a Birthday or Anniversary and when they checked in, they had gotten a Room Upgrade! So my husband was asking the Manager about getting a room upgrade. He said that they do not give room upgrades for any reason and that all those people were lieing! They dont do anything for you on your Birthday!
FOOD:: Food on the buffett was the same everyday and we were there 8 days.Thank goodness for the Beach Grill that served Hamburgers and Fries from 1 to 5 everyday! They were Great.
TRANSPORTATION:: We booked with Cheapcaribbean and paid extra for roundtrip transportation to and from resort. This was with Jamaica Tours. After arriving at the resort we were told we HAD to be in the Lobby at 1pm the next day to SECURE our transportation back to the Airport?? The ladies name was Charmane.. Ok, so i PAID for this when i booked my Vacation and your telling me that if i dont meet this lady in the Lobby at 1pm the next day that we WONT get transported back to the airport!! Do you realize we are on Vacation and we have a Rental Car and we are going to tour as much of the Island as we can EVERY day BUT you want us to wait on you in the Lobby for something i have already booked and PAID for!! After my Husband finally talked to her on the phone, she was not happy that we had a Rental Car and told us SHE booked all our tours and that we couldnt go off the resort without being in a tour bus!! Grrrr.....
Tour Desk:: All i can say is Jasmine is a very Rude person! And we were not the only ones to think this!
And on Saturday we had left early and went to Ochos shopping. We got back to the resort around 1pm... We went to the Grill to have our daily Burger and found about 30 people with Pink arm bands on ordering food.. There were more people filling up the Hot Tub.. We had to wait an HOUR to get our food and about 30 minutes at the bar to get our drinks!! I was later told that the Pink arm bands are "Day-Trippers. Locals who get to come on the resort for the day!
So YEA we were not Happy at all with this Resort and IF we go back to Jamaica, we will go back to Negril... And let me say.. WE were not the only people who complained! A couple who was there for their 5th time was also dissapointed that the Resort had gone so far downhill. When my Niece checked out the Manager asked about their stay, and when she told him about everything, He said that they were losing a lot of "Repeat" customers and he didnt know WHY! Sad!
Im really sorry that i had to post this review.. By no means did we have any problems with Cheapcaribbean!! They are the best!! :)

Club Ambiance is a simple laid back small hotel situated on a great stretch of beach. The food and service is simple, but very Jamaican, and the staff are super friendly. Loads of repeat business and no kids! Adults only is a nice touch. There are 3 small private beaches, and one of the beaches away from hotel offers clothing optional. It's not a very large resort, but that's why many people go back!
KateCC
This hotel exceeded our expectations! We weren't sure since the price was so reasonable, however, everything was PERFECT except for a few small things. The pool staff, bar staff, and restaurant staff were all EXCELLENT! Also, the front desk staff were all very friendly! When we checked in, we were upgraded to a deluxe room without asking. Maybe we were upgraded because it was our anniversary. Housekeeping was without reproach. Maids came promptly every day and gave us everything we needed. Nicoy at the pool was the best staff member we came across although all staff treated us like five star guests. The air conditioner was great and the room had an excellent shower with plenty of water pressure and hot water. The only thing I would recommend would be to have coffee makers in the room and improve the dinner buffet. The food was a little bland and most times, a little lukewarm. Also, I would recommend having traditional Jamaican dishes. There was no jerk meals except for the Terrace snacks which was delicious. Also, I love the curried goat and they never had that, even on Jamaica day. The dinner buffet could also have used some more flavor and often times, when a dish ran out, no more was brought out. I would definitely visit this hotel again and would recommend to anyone wanting to go on a affordable relaxing vacation! This hotel is for anyone who wants to go and just enjoy the beauty of Jamaica. There were times when we laid out all day at the ocean with no one else there.

Staff are very friendly. Food is great. Rooms are clean. Very nice for a small resort. Entertainment staff were great. Was nice that it was an Adults only place.
Farmed
It's wonderful!! Smaller, great staff, friendly people, great food. We've been there 3 times now. It's quieter than the chain hotels, so you can relax if you want...not being pulled out for games all the time. We've made such good friends with people there. Plus the price is great, the food is wonderful, and Dunn river, Ocho, dolphins, bamboo rafting ( highly recommend!) all the fun stuff isn't that far away. If you go get to know Kerisha aka Keri...she's the best!
livinthedream
this place is like days inn. it's just a place to lay your head. the beach is nice, but only one restaurant. same food gets old. the fun came from leaving the hotel. in summary, it is cheap. plan to go other places.
msTravelALot
This resort is quaint and friendly, not like bigger resorts its quiet but cozy, it is was it is and if you and your friends are fun it will be fine! but its more geared towards couples and older people. I would recommend it.
jerseygirl45
CA is a small intimate resort. Very friendly, great service, good food, small beach, seperate nude area
FloridaDon
It is older, but fantastic. Adults only. Great service
Debzimc
The VIP Bar was awesome and the bartenders were great. The phone was not good the same everyday and the specialty restaurants you could never get in. You have to stand in a line for first come first serve and if they were booked you could not get in very small restaurants.
Flaky
You may have already booked since your post is 8 mos. old.
I personally love CA but I know its not for every one.
It's a very old resort but with a Jamaica charm to it. The staff is wonderful and within a day will know your name.
Only give it a try if you are a no-frills type of person. If you like the mega, luxury resorts, CA won't be for you.
Spurrier
The crowd is some 20 somethings, a lot of 40 and above somethings, it's a very mellow place if your into just vegging. The evening music is good. the staff is really nice. The facilities are fine.

What would be the price of a cab from the airport to the hotel?7 answers
9 months ago
dann
Book your transfers to and from the airport from Cheap Carribean. It was a lot less.A cab might run $50 each way.It is alot easier to do it through Cheap Carribean and it is nice that when you get theit it is already paid for and you dont have to deal with a strange cab driver.
sarge11
$115.00 for upto 5 PP to Santiago D.R.
Flaky
In St. Thomas the taxi's charge by the person no the distance of the trip. Typically charge is $10.00 per person.
Mthyree
The prices for a cab from the airport can vary as it depends on each individual cab company. We do not have pricing on file for cab companies in Jamaica. The roundtrip airport transfer service is offered as an add on purchase will all of our vacation packages to Jamaica.
MariaCC
I'm not sure because it is included in my package with Cheap Caribean. I choose to use their services rather than try to book a cab myself.
Spurrier
You dont need a cab they have free round trip ground transportation that is included with your trip..granted you purchase air thru cheap carrabian
single4lyfe
it's an hour ride so pretty pricey is my guess. We paid $42 for a roundtrip van transfer through Jamaica Tours Ltd. and it was a good value.
SunNFun12
You should get the airfare and resort together which will have airport/resort transfers for approx. $42 round trip per person.

How is the snorkeling at this resort?4 answers
We had the best time snorkeling at Sunset Beach resort in Mobay, Unfortunately, every hotel that we've stayed at since could not come close to comparing. From the picture of the resort it looks like there would be lots of good snorkeling, does anyone know?

paulette24
Hi Paulette,
The snorkeling at Club Ambiance is very nice. The water close to shore is quite shallow but has great visibility and there is plenty to see. If you wanted to snorkel in deeper water there are plenty of excursions available that can take you to great snorkeling spots by boat.
ccsusan1
Could not enter the water when I was there weather was to bad all 5 day hurricane of shore
Sirmor
We had an excellent snorkeling experience. It is rocky with a lot of reefs. The guided tour is free bring your waterproof camera.
Jeanine
very basic, limited snorkling here. Not a great "beach" for a resort on the ocean.

I noticed a small area of the beach is clothing optional--Is the pool topless optional? and how many women take advantage of it? My wife likes taking her top off ,Thanks
4 months ago
jamie
Topless bathing is allowed around the pool as well at the resort. How many guests choose to bathe topless at the pool and on the beach just depends on who happens to be at the resort at any given time, so unfortunately there is not really a way to tell how many people will be bathing topless during your stay.
KristinCC
It was very mellow. As long as no one looks like Jabba the Hut.
Maestra212
Jamie,
We were there in mid February 2011 for 5 nights. Yes, the CO beach is small but did handle the few that used it. It does however need another shade umbrella or two so you would not have to spend the entire day in sun. No one took a spot in direct sun for the entire day, all of us utilized the small amount of occasional shade that was there.
Our room faced the pool which was very clean and acceptable to us but I only saw two women on separate occasions go topless. It is suppose to be topless /optional but I believe it depends upon the group of people that are staying there at that time.
artie1919
Yes they do. The whole resort is tops optional. When we were there some took advantage of all areas.
MWELEC
Pool is topless optional......there were a few guests who exercised the option.
Jeanine
The pool was not topless, my husband and I did try the clothing optional beach which was very nice ..... I am not a model by any means and felt comfortable there.
STIF
The clothing opt beach was fun and nice, small. Not really private, but if you're into the optional, you probably don't care. At the pool, a few were topless. It is very low key vibe, so no worries.
SunNFun12
The pool is topless optional... And there were about 4 women who took advantage of it in the week we were there.
newplaces
Yes the pool is topless optional and there were ladies everyday we were there going topless.
FunInTheSun2010
Topless at pool side is allowed. Many do take advantage.

we spent our 29,30th and this year our 31st.. we stay on the resort almost all the time now... we have been to Jamaica 10 times and this is OUR favorite resort but we like small and quiet times and Club Ambiance fit this. If you like alot of action this might not be for you....CA does have a small swimming beach area but a nice amount of sunning area. The food and drinks (3 bars and a disco) are part of your trip cost.. it is the ONLY way we go because we know up front what our total will be.. Good Luck !!

Perfect for romantic anniversary very private and personal. All drinks and food included. Buffet style and all alcoholic drinks you want. Lots of Jamaican rum.
