Escape to the all inclusive, adults-only Catalonia Royal Bavaro in Punta Cana, where the party's rollin', the Zen is flowin' and the kids are, well, absent. Thatched-roof palapas pepper the white sands along the resort's private stretch of one of the Caribbean's most famous beaches, Playa Bavaro. Grab a cocktail from the beach bar and wade in gloriously blue waters, or bask in the warm island sun next to one of the resort's two fabulous pools: one 4,305-sq-ft infinity pool with a view, another with an integrated Jacuzzi and swim-up bar.

Food & Facilities
The hotel grounds and rooms were well maintained. There was constantly people working on keeping the property clean and in good condition. The rooms were clean and modernized. The only complaint was the matress - it was more like a box spring.
There were numerous food options and some of the meals were hit or miss. We usually wound up in th buffet for the variety. The other resteraunts tried to be gormet, but, usually had average food.
The water depth for the beach was shallower than we like but the beached were clean, water sparkling and always being cleared of seaweed.
The staff was very fiendly and helpful.
We had a great time.
Hotel Grounds are beautiful and well kept. Staff is extremely accommodating. There is only activity at the Catalonia Bavaro that shares the same grounds. That hotel is too big and has many families. I preferred the Catalonia Royal Bavaro because it is adults only. I wish there were some activities on the Royal side-day and night.
Also, was disappointed with the room. Not at all as the picture showed.
The beach has a problem with seaweed. Some days were worse than others. If you're a beach person, this may affect your stay. The pools are great.
Just returned from 6 days at the Royal Catalonia Bavaro and have nothing but good things to say.
The staff is friendly and attentive, the food and drink excellent, and the pools and beach relaxing. This resort is adullts only and is small and quaint. Vacationers included newlyweds, Americans, Brits, Germans, and French. This resort is calm, quiet, and classy in its feel and services.
Staying here gives you rights at the sister property next door, and we did go over there to eat at the Japanese restaurant (very good) as well as an American steakhouse ( good food and service- a little rushed). This property is 3-4 times larger than the one that we stayed at, and attracted more singles, young people, and families. While a nice property, I would not stay here and much preferred the Royal Catalonia.
I would definitely go back.

The resort was beautiful, but that was about the only good thing. Disappointed with the food, there were no fresh vegetables, fruit or juices. There was also not a lot of seafood, which I thought would be plentiful. The bed was Horrible - it was like sleeping on a bare boxspring, both of us woke up with a back ache every day. Most of the common areas are not air-conditioned so it was very hot unless you were in your swimsuit. We also did not realize there would be limited English speaking staff so that took a little getting used to. It was hard to relax when there were people coming up to you every hour trying to sell you something.

Hotel Description
Catalonia Royal Bavaro: Punta Cana is Where the Grown-Ups Go to Play
Beautifully bronzed and ready to take on the nightlife? Fuel up for your night of partying with the lobster tail from Thalasa, or indulge in yummy tapas from Cata Tapa. Resort guests enjoy not only all the facilities and amenities of Catalonia Royal Bavaro, but can also venture to the nearby sister resort, Catalonia Punta Cana for an additional nine restaurants and four bars (just look out for the youngsters, as that resort is kid and family friendly).
When the morning comes round again and the sun-drenched beaches beckon, explore the tranquil waters of the bay by catamaran, or check out the bustling sea life of the Caribbean by snorkeling. Indulge your competitive side and hit the sands for a volleyball match, or grab a tee time at either of the two neighboring golf courses, The Cabeza de Toro Golf Club (nine-hole) and Caribe Golf Club (18-hole), are both designed by Alberto Sola. If your favorite activity is set to the soundtrack of rolling dice and shuffling cards, sidle up to one of the slot machines in Casino Punta Cana and test your luck.
For those whose activity schedule is gloriously out of commission, take a short stroll down to the stress-obliterating Alegria Spa for a heavenly session of pampering before heading back to the luxury of one of the resort's spacious suites, where you can laze the day away swinging in the hammock on your private balcony, grazing on room-service goodies and gazing out at the glittering turquoise sea.
