Great vacation!!
Everything was beautiful. The only negative was trying to figure out which restaurants were open when. Other than that, it was amazing!! The reviews that warn of rocks on the beach are partially correct. You can access the beach and swim without experiencing the coral, not rocks, but it's better if you have some cheap water shoes with you. We wanted to stay longer after we had gotten there, but we couldn't afford the change fee. If you're considering staying longer before you go, stay longer. It's worth the little bit of extra money to book it before you go. You will love this vacation. Also, get the upgraded room. We started with the upgrade and never saw the smaller room, but the larger one is definitely worth the money. One more thing, get a ride through cheapcaribbean before leaving. The taxis are all more expensive than what you should pay. Olympus is a good, professional company that will get you where you need to go ^_^
-very attentive staff
-detail-oriented housekeeping
-well-kept grounds and amenities
-amazing food options: japanese, ilatian, multiple buffets, dessert-only buffet, and so on...
-very close to: dolphin encounters, parasailing ventures, jet-ski rental, etc.
well worth the price, amazing experience overall.

We enoyed our 15-night visit to the Catalonia Riviera Maya very much (good food, nice room (suite), nice, but very cold pools, etc.), but most of all we want to thank the entertainment staff for their amazing energy, friendliness, and talent. They make your stay most enjoyable!

awesome!!!
First vacation with my wife. we had a great time and would definately recomend this to anyone. food was great service was great just everything about this resort was great.
we just escaped the hurricane which is probably the best part. all staff members were friendly. definately worth the money, upgrade to a suite!!! it is very nice. there were many options for food, japenese, mexican, steakhouse, italian, spanish and then the buffets. i think there were 7 bars a night club all around this was something that i would definately recomend you to try.

do they have connecting rooms at the Catalonia Riviera Maya4 answers
thinking about going to this resort next April with my family. There will be 3 adults and 5 kids. Just wondering is there are connecting rooms available
1 year, 12 months ago
pjs
The resort does have connecting rooms, however, they are limited and based on availability upon check in. We are unable to guarantee connecting rooms as they are simply a request.
MariaCC
Just advise them ahead of time you would like to have the rooms next to each other. They may not be connecting, but at least they will be right next door
LadyPAndBigTy
Yes. Our room had a door to the next room.
Leeloo
The priveleged suites do not connect. Not sure about the priveleged rooms or standard rooms.

ground transportation to resort5 answers
i know about the shuttle service from cancun airport to resort, are there any other ways of getting there, and how much does it cost?
adrianna
We chose to take transportation as a part of the package with Cheap Caribbean. Booking now is the best thing to do instead of looking for transport when you get there.
BossLadyB
There are options to take transportation on your own such as a taxi from the airport, however, we do not have the rates for any taxi company.
MariaCC
The only other option I know and that is a taxi which costs approximately $85, one way, during the off season. I obtained this information form the conceirge and front desk staff.
californianlatin
You could take a cab but you'd ve looking to pay twice as much than if you just use the shuttle service. I believe we paid $90 per person round trip to use the shuttle.
LesbianHoneymooners
Honestly, the shuttle service can be annoying riding with others while dropping them off on the way, but it's the most economical way to travel there and back... a very good way to keep your cost down. Taxis are fairly expensive.

Eatting6 answers
I have read about vouchers for eatting at the resturants do you get to eat at them everyday of our trip or only a few each visit.I went at another place and we could sign up everyday if you were a privlege guest.

paula
The resort is an all-inclusive, which means that all of your meals and snacks are included in the package pricing that you pay. Sometimes resorts do limit the number of times you can make a reservation and eat at the specialty restaurants, depending on the number of nights you are staying at the resort.
KristinCC
There are several buffet restuarants and snack bars which have liberal hours. When I arrived I was given vouchers, no cost, and all it required was a reservation. This was usually in the invloving serving steaks. Reservations are free and easy to make. I understand the need for reservations so that they can have steaks available for guest. Dining area set up with table cloths and candlelight
californianlatin
You can eat the buffets everyday all day as many times in a day as you please. They will give you three vouchers which you can use to make reservations at the other restaraunts at the resort such as a Japanese, Italian, Steakhouse or sports bar.
LesbianHoneymooners
we stayed 7 nights and we had 4 vouchers. the meals were great though. even the buffet.
coady
We had a priviledged suite and stayed 15 nights, but still only got about 4-5 coupons per week. No problem though - we had left over. The steak house is the best, then the Japanese. The Mexican, Spanish and Italian are all so, so.
Koetter63
I believe we got three vouchers on our four-day trip... but it may be the same with privileges.

We are going to be here during Cinco de Mayo. What should be expect?2 answers
2 months ago
TD
Cinco de Mayo apparently is more widely celebrated in the US than in Mexico. If you are concerned about big celebrations and partying you needn't be concerned as it is generally considered "just another day" in Mexico . The resorts may celebrate the day in some way for the benefit of the tourists but it is considered a "minor" holiday in mexico.
ccsusan1
Expect a very excited bartending crew. We went after Cinco, and they were still giddy.

Do you offer one day scuba diving certification courses?1 answer
I have been to Cancun resorts before and they offered the one day scuba certification class in their pool. Do you offer this or is there place very near the resort that does offer this?
Memphis, Tennessee
There are scuba excursions which can be purchased with your vacation package or while in destination.

Hotel Description
Catalonia Riviera Maya Resort & Spa: Relax in Style
Feeling in need of some major relaxation under a warm tropical sun, with the surf washing against the shore? Then get yourself to Catalonia Riviera Maya Resort & Spa, in the beautiful town of Puerto Aventuras, where your dream awaits.
Set along the pearly sands of the Mayan Riviera, Catalonia Riviera Maya has five shimmering pools that wind through the property, providing ample opportunity for you to float the day away, with frequent stops at the swim-up bar, of course. Slice through the water windsurfing, pedal boating or kayaking, or interact with the wondrous world below with the help of scuba and snorkel gear. Hit the sun-drenched sands of Catalonia Riviera Maya and the beach volleyball court, or make your way back to the glimmering pool to set and spike the day away over the in-pool net.
Let the relaxing begin at Spa Alegria, the resort's on-site, one-stop, relaxation spot, where you will be faced with a wealth of choice treatments. Try a hydrotherapy treatment, visit the sauna, or double-dip between the pool and the Jacuzzi. Grab a fresh elixir from the juice bar, wander down to a private beach palapa for a couple's beachfront massage, and then get primped for a special evening at the on-site salon.
After an afternoon of lazing, fuel up at one of the resort's restaurants. Sample the tapas at Terrace, or take in a theme night at the ocean-side La Brisa. Then, get your drink on during your night tour of the resort's seven lively bars, including La Pinata, the dance-'til-you-drop disco.
Retire your tangoed toes and start afresh in the morning with a hearty breakfast, before you head out for a day of adventuring. Take the kiddies on a stroll to the nearby marina, or give them a day to themselves at the Kids Club while you get in a round of golf at the nearby, nine-hole Puerto Aventuras Golf Club, designed by Tom Lehman. If you prefer slower moves, fit in a yoga or Pilates class in the resort's state-of-the-art fitness center.
Remember, it's your vacation. Relax and enjoy.
