Good stay at the Hilton Colonial

Our room was great, and the hotel itself is very nice. For having the only beach in town, the pool and beach area was very good. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The con is the cost of the food - absurd, especially if you are just getting a snack or something at the pool. The main restaurant we ate in one night had great food, but again the cost was absurd. Plan to travel around to eat, or buy your beer across the street for a quarter of the price, etc. It is a downtown location, so you do have a lot of choices. We found this to be a great central location, but we traveled all around, use the buses, greatest deal on the island. We did a couple of day excursions - Stuart Cove diving and Exuma Powerboat Adventures were excellent, and we checked out some other beaches like Love and Cabbage. We did go on a day trip to Atlantis - it's worth it to check it out, amazing!. All in all, we would go back again, if Atlantis was offering some special deal I would definitely select Atlantis, otherwise the Hilton Colonial was just fine.

Won't be going back

First thing we walked into was a cockroach in the closet. Bathroom wasn't very clean. Left my favorite shirt in the closet. Called the hotel about it when I was at the airport and they said they'd get back to me, only to get back to me a day later saying they didn't find anything and will keep looking and let me know. - Still no response from them and it was a very expensive shirt. The only helpful/nice staff I found was the servers outside around the beach area. Otherwise I did not enjoy my stay at this hilton resort.

Perfect service/rooms, but beach small

Private Beach is small, ideal for families with small children(easy to keep track of them). Very few umbrellas, but plenty of good quality lay-out chairs. Pool area has plenty of lay-out chairs and canopy beds. Disappointing to see a hotdog is 10 dollars there. BUT, downtown Nassau is 2 minute walk from hotel! McDonald's, liquor store, and great "take away" restaurant across the street. Downtown Nassau has senior frogs and other very nice restaurants/shops, highly recommend trying conch fritters at local restaurants. Annoyed by the cruise ships that dock not too far from private beach. That took away the remote, natural beauty of the Bahama experience. If you want a bigger beach, taxi ride to paradise island (where Atlantis resort is). There's a public beach called "cabbage beach" you can access, huge and has a very gorgeous reef you can snorkel at via rental from locals. It may look a look like a super crowded beach as you walk up!! But don't be fooled, walk down, take a right and you can see the beach goes on forever. They have a deal at this beach from the locals , $20 unlimited mixed drinks all day. My whole family took up the offer(was great). I opted for just ice from the locals and purchased a colada mix and rum from the liquor store across the Hilton before the taxi ride :) Beach pictured is near reef from cabbage beach

Great Location

Centralized location to avoid dependency on the hotel dining accommodations. Lots of shopping and dining with prices ranging from high to moderate. Overall the stay was great.

What's to Love

The British Colonial Hilton Nassau sits smack dab in the middle of it's own private beach. And it's Nassau's only private beach. How's that for exclusive?

What We'd Change

Hilton Nassau doesn't have all the activities available that the other beach front resorts on Cable Beach have. But it does have its own beach.

Why You Should Go

Not only is the weather perfect, but the location of this resort is in walking distance to a wide variety of shopping, restaurants and bars.
