I just returned from BBG Esmeralda. The food, atmosphere, service, location, and overall appeal was quite enjoyable. The room's decor is comfortable and very spacious, lots of closet space and drawers, a huge walk in shower, fridge stocked up regularly. The swim out rooms offers a nice relief from the heat. My room looked over the quiet pool were I spent most of my time relaxing or on my Blackberry. Enjoyed the Italian, French and Mexican restaurants. The Buffet restaurant held theme dinners each night. One night it included hand rolled Sushi!

The beach here is a little rocky but the pool offers a great alternative. Upon arrival at about noon, I was advised that rooms were not ready until 3:00pm, this is standard. Remember to keep a bathing suit or a change of clothes in your carry on, so you can sit by the pool, the beach or the bar in more comfort. Have a little lunch, have a little drink and presto, you're on vacation!!

Excellent resort!!! I really enjoyed my stay: great food, great staff, super facilities. Don't miss the Ancient ruins, long beaches, bohemian Playa del Carmen, golf....lots to see and do. I took a taxi one evening to downtown Playa Del Carmen to do some shopping. A taxi ride is fairly reasonable at 14.00 us each way. Found some terrific souvenirs to bring home to friends and family.
