You've been planning your Caribbean vacation for months and dreaming about it for years. When you're ready for your tropical getaway, you don't want to waste a minute, especially not stuck in a taxi to the hotel. That's the first thing that sets Be Live Hamaca apart: it's just a 10-minute ride from the airport.

Worst resort ever!!!
This place is a DUMP!!! First let me start with the rooms. Went there with 6 friends and we got 4 rooms, two doubles and two singles. We had booked rooms at the beachfront so we could have a nice view to the beach. They put us in a room which had a huge wall in front of the beach so we couldnt see the water at all, and the room had mildue and body oder funk smell. it had ugly green kitchen tiles on the ground and an old TV from the 70's. We all go down and complain that this is not what we reserved and we need a nice room. After 2 hours having to talk to these slow, unprofessional receptionists they finally give us a room and say here is your beachview room. We all go up happy and what do we see, same kind of room on the same side a floor up so you could see a little bit of the beach. It was so exhausting so we just gave up and took the room, until.... Late at night we come back to sleep and we see ROACHES all over the fridge, in the bathroom and wher we had put our toothbrushes. It was late so we all went down to change the room.at 7am. we go down with our bags and at 1pm they give us new rooms which they charged us 30 Dollars a night extra and the rooms were decent at least with a nice beach view. I can go on and on with the complaints but It will remind me of that gross place. I DO NOT recommend anyone going there!!!!! BAD food, service, managment and if you call room service thay just play you around and will never bring anythig to your room. Oh and the charge you 3 dollars a night to use a rusted old safe to lock your valuables.
I got this vacation on the advice of my parents--they went to La Hamaca years ago and loved it. In those days, it was a great hotel. NOT ANYMORE.
When we arrived, the first room we were offered was completely falling apart, so we switched to a beachfront room where the AC wouldn't push lower than 76 degrees. The entire structure needs work: some of the elevators creak and moan, probably dating to at least two decades ago. The food was terrible: the buffet was inedible and the restaurants were no better. The staff seemed lazy, inattentive and sometimes downright surly. I'm convinced much of this has to do with the fact that its so close to Santo Domingo that locals come for the day (and often sneak in). The staff really didn't care about the tourists that much, especially if you didn't speak Spanish like my girlfriend. I even had to make a scene just to get fresh towels for the beach...something I rarely do.
It's sad, because this resort has so much history (President Trujillo built it in the fifties, and Batista stayed here in exile after the Cuban Revolution) and the most beautiful beach I've seen in a while. La Hamaca needs a huge overhaul in buildings, food and especially staff service. I will not recommend until I've heard this has happened.
This resort was nothing like pictured. It was dirty and rundown.
It was the WORST vacation I have ever been on. Save your money and decide on another wonderful trip!
It had great potential but customer service was horrible, the rooms were so dirty we didn't want to sleep on the beds, and the showers were terribly dirty and rusty.
I wouldn't suggest this resort for anyone who wants to relax. It bairly seems like an all-inclusive.
The locals are allowed to come in on the weekends as well so beware, and it's a nightly occurance to see more than a handful of escorts roaming the grounds.
Cheap Caribbean Is a wonderful site and a great business that I love to use, but this trip was an utterdissapointment.
Please head my warning, and don't waste your time on this vacation.
I wouldn't reccomend this hotel to anyone else because there are so many better hotels. The beach is small and crowded and boasts a view of the Boca Chica industrial port. The first day we were there we never received towels despite calling 5 times. The second day the room didn't get cleaned until 5pm when we were coming in from the beach and showering (still no towels). To top it all off I saw a cockroach in the room near the mini fridge. The rooms are dated to say the least and not comfortable. The food was decent in the buffet area, but didn't have very much variety. I've been to other Be Live hotels and this was hands down the worst.

Where can I find an affordable all inclusive Family vacation in DR with airfare under 2500?9 answers
2 years, 26 months ago
Cheryl
The price of airfare is affected by a number of different factors including dates, departure city, and availability. The best tool on our website for this type of search is Cheap Finder. Once travel dates and location are selected, each available resort will have the option for you to view the price for the day you selected, 1 and 2 days before, and 1 and 2 days after.

Try coral costa caribe in Juan Dolio. Be sure you are flying in to Santo Domingo (about 25 minute taxi or van) otherwise you could end up in a three hour bus ride to get there from the other airports. Nice little beach that's protected. They have a day care area and kid pool

From my experience: would not enter country again.

I would not recommend Be Liva Hamaca. The surrounding area seems dangerous and the food at the resort was terrible. We stayed one night and we were able to move to a resort at Punta Canta thanks to the help we received from Cheap Carribean.

Go to Boca Chico to the Be Live Hamaca. You can get an all inclusive with air for 2 for less than that.

At this time, all US Citizens are required to have a valid passport to travel to anywhere outside of the US/US territories. This includes travel to the Dominican Republic. However, as requirements can change frequently, we do suggest you check online for specific travel requirements for the time frame in which you are traveling.
KristinCC

According to a recent review on Trip Advisor, the beach is great and the water is crystal clear.
MariaCC
yes
Solnce
Yes, but nothing to see but sand - perhaps on the other side of the reef - 100 yards out :)
tnlobo420
Yes, there is safe snorkeling here.
Joper
Yes for a monetary fee. The best place to snorkel is near the beach front restuarant named the Pelican.
TLadyB
YES YOU CAN
imelectric
Yes, the water is very clear and protected by a reef. You can take a snorkeling trip for not much money as well. If its wavy or windy, ask them to take you to the mangrove area, rather than the open sea.

They provide diving lessons on property and they also have vendors on property that can set up teh diving excursions for you.
DanielleCC
They can train you how to scuba dive, but I did not witness anyone diving at the property. Right next door, there is a public beach were the natives would dive.
TLadyB
they have scuba shop on the premises. we used Tropical Sea Divers right outside of the resort. Dive sites are about 10-15 minutes from the shore.

The resort offers Internet corner and Wi-Fi in common areas. The internet access is $10/day (pricing subject to change). For more information you may contact the resort directly.
KristenCC
No wireless and the only spot in the check in area is always having problems when I went so I stopped trying. No internet at the pool if they say yes it is a lie. No hardware in the room for internet as the rooms really need to be upgraded and I changed rooms 3 times to finally have a beach balcony view which they concerned a top noch room. No internet and you can barely get out onto the porch from the broken doors.

are the bars open late?2 answers
how is the nightlife at this resort? i see most of the bars close at 11pm, are any other bars open later? we have a group of girls looking to travel in jan for a 40th birthday, we arent looking for the club scene where girls are dancing on the bars (ive seen some youtube videos), we are looking to have fun, music, dancing, talking into the night, does the resort offer anything like that?

chris
According to the information listed on our site, the closing time for the bars/restaurants is 10 PM, however, hours are always subject to change.
KateHCC
If your looking for someone to pick up this would be the place. As they have those types of people. The bar on the beach is open when the person doesn't wander away very unpredictable.

How can you tell if the beach on property is private or public?2 answers
I know in most all inclusives they are private, but some of the comments were making me nervous that they aren't.

rmapookie
Each resort will maintain their stretch of beach, but the areas are still considered open to the public.
LaurenCC
The beach is private, clean and activities at the beach are super. This includes the beach bar.
oldercouple
Technically, the beaches are public once you hit the waterline. However, La Hamaca's beach is private and contained by a wall with a guard. That doesn't stop locals from coming in, though.

Room Information
Be Live Hamaca Beach features 269 guestrooms overlooking tropical gardens and a white-sand beach. Rooms are painted in bright, tropical colors and have terra cotta tile floors and rattan and wood furniture.
Guestrooms are also fitted with air-conditioning, cable TV and a private balcony. The resort purifies its water but recommends drinking complimentary bottled water, which is provided in each room.
The swim-up bar was one of our favorite features at this hotel. Be Live Hamaca's fresh-mint mojitos are definitely a cut above your typical all inclusive drink.
What We'd Change
A nearby cargo port puts a damper on the view from some parts of the resort. Overall, a small price to pay for the value you get.
Why You Should Go
You just can't beat this value: between the spacious deluxe rooms and access to a private beach, Boca Chica. With the calm, blue ocean, this resort is a sweet deal.

Hotel Description
Be Live Hamaca Beach: Tranquil Waters and Pure White Sand Create the
Perfect Vacation Spot
You've been planning your Caribbean vacation for months and dreaming about
it for years. When you're ready for your tropical getaway, you don't want to
waste a minute, especially not stuck in a taxi to the hotel. That's the first
thing that sets Be Live Hamaca apart: it's just a 10-minute ride from the
airport.
In addition to its convenient location, Be Live Hamaca is on one of the most
popular beaches in the Dominican Republic. Boca Chica's pure-white sand
cushions your feet as you stroll toward the sea. The water, clear and blue, is
remarkably calm, thanks to an enormous reef that protects this beach from harsh
ocean waves. You can wade out farther than 100 meters before the water becomes
waist deep. This warm, tranquil water makes Boca Chica a great beach for
parents with young children. That's why the Be Live Hamaca all inclusive
packages feature both a kids' club and a mini club, making it a sweet deal for
families.
As beautiful as this ocean is, it doesn't have a swim-up bar. Luckily,
you'll find one at Be Live Hamaca! With their all inclusive packages, you can
have your fill of fresh-mint mojitos as you lounge in one of the hotel's three
pools. When it's time for dinner, sample some traditional dishes at Dominican
Gourmet. At sunset, head to the open-air theater for nightly entertainment.
Then it's off to the casino in search of Lady Luck. Even if she lets you down,
a night of dancing in the disco will more than make up for it.
The next day, an appointment at the hotel's spa may be in order. Rejuvenate
your tired calves with a massage after a night of non-stop salsa. After an
almond-and-honey exfoliation, you're refreshed and ready for a scuba
diving or horseback riding adventure. Or set out on a day trip to explore the
Dominican Republic's capital, Santo Domingo, about a half-hour's drive away.
Then again, you could just take it easy on one of the hotel's oceanfront canopy
beds... it is your vacation, after all.
