Took all my kids
I took my three kids ages 14, 19 and 21 to this resort. Fun was had by all. The kids loved the food choices. They loved the excursions we did. They had fun in the pool and on the beach. The only thing I didn't like was the vendors on the beach and it was a bit confusing knowing who to buy your excursions from. We went with the hotel sponsored vendors because I felt like there may be a bit of hotel accountability for them. Everyone was nice. Thankfully my kids all took spanish in school and could interpret for me sometimes. I would have liked more of a hotel sponsored entertainment committee as they have had at other resorts.
I stayed at the Grand Oasis Punta Cana Beach in August of 2009. From the time I got there until the time I left, everything went as smooth as possible. Transportation was always on time. The room was always clean and mostly stocked, although, since it was only restocked once a day, if you used up the towel supply after the chambermaid had already been to your room, you'd have to wait until the next day to get a fresh supply. This was hardly a problem though. Also, the fridge was "stocked" with 2 beers, 2 waters, and 2 sodas per day. I, personally, drink a lot more than that during the day, and often either had to pay extra or buy drinks from the store. Again, another very minor issue. There is a great selection of restaurants, but, to be honest, the buffet had so much to offer, that I only ate 1 meal at another restaurant, just to try something different. I would have been completely satisfied with just the buffet. For the most part, all of the employees were friendly and helpful above and beyond their duties, except maybe a grumpy bartender or two. The pools were amazing and the pool bar very convenient. There was always entertainment at night. There is also a casino on the grounds. There were many excursions to choose from, which I had set up in advance. I just wanted to be sure everything was set up when I got there, but you can also book excursions after you arrive. My second day, a rep came out to see me and set up all the excursions, pick up times, etc. This was very helpful and appreciated. The excursions were great...a lot of fun and very professionally run. The resort stores can be a little expensive for souvenirs, but if you go outside the hotel, walk a block down the street, there are several vendors where you can bargain much better prices and get more authentic gifts. The one real issue I had was right outside the hotel, the beach is pretty disappointing. The beach was covered in seaweed and in the water, you could only go out 2 feet deep before you hit a ton more seaweed. However, I discovered, if you walk about 50 feet down the beach, the seaweed stopped on the beach and in the water, and it ended up being one of the most beautiful and pristine beaches I've ever seen. Overall I had a great time and would rate this vacation a 9.9. Even the minor problems I had I only shared to be 100% accurate describing, and they had absolutely no effect on the amount of enjoyment I had during this vacation. I have, and will continue to, highly recommend this hotel, this destination, and Cheap Caribbean to anybody looking for a vacation idea.

THE RESORT WAS FABULOUS, THE STAFF FRIENDLY AND VERY HELPFUL, FOOD WAS VERY GOOD AND DIFFERENT CHOICE DINING OPTIONS A VERY BIG PLUS. FROM START TO FINISH THE VACATION WAS SENSATIONAL AND THE SERVICE FROM CHEAP CARIBBEAN WAS TERRIFIC.
The Grand Oasis Punta Cana Resort is a great place to unwind and decompress. I took this vacation after a stressful personal situation and this property and beach helped me recharge. I traveled solo in July 2008. The beach is beautiful and is close to a wild park area with a palm tree forest. The snorkling, walking on the beach and just laying on my chair with a good book and favorite drink were uncomparable.
The beach and water are great, you just have to know that there is always seaweed and there is a dock next door but that didn't affect my enjoyment. The seaweed is picked up daily. All the resorts in this area were topless.
The room was adequate and a bit humid but it is the Caribbean. There were many dining choices at every meal and although some items may not be to US standards I skipped those and always found a few things I liked that were prepared very well.
I stayed at the resort only for 5 days and walked down the street for some bazaar shopping. I also purchased a few things on the beach. Another favorite thing of mine to do was to jump into the pool at mid afternoon and swim up to the pool bar.
I didn't need the staff much so that was not an issue for me. My tour guide didn't show up at my hotel when I was scheduled with him so I didn't do any excursions...the snorkling and walking on the beach was plenty for me.
