Worst Vacation Ever!

When we 1sr arrived it was close to 1am, the staff was nice and escorted us Straight to the room. When we go to the room it was jaw droppingly awful! The bathroom had a ring around there toilet with a sanitation bowl above saying "your room has been sanitized"...or something like that. The sink had trouble making the water go down...a huge round metal drain and it Wood the drain. The shower had black mold on the curtain rings, and in front of the toilet was the door stopper...horrible position, stumped my toe everytime. The towel rack was rusty and held out fresh towels on them. Now on to the room itself. You had to pay if you wanted to use the safe...seriously!!! The closet was ok, needed more hangers. The room was barren...had one round ottoman and a weird tall shelf thing in the corner with 1 light, no drawers. There was 1 side table (no light, no clock) smallest TV, maybe a 20inch. There was a mini fridge that had 2 beers and 2 sodas. Above the fridge had a large bottle water and a coffee maker with 2 glasses. The bed...was basically a large Cot...light and noisy...full of old springs, no headboard just a bare wall, there were no pictures either, just bland room. The pillows...God Awful! Someone else described them as a bag full of rolled up socks...they we right on...it was horrible!!! Sleeping on the bed made me have back aches throughout the whole trip. It was truly unpleasant! Moving to the next morning...we were approached by several people in brown shirts asking us how we are and how are vacation was, we said we just started, can we just eat something first...went to the buffet, the only place open...everywhere else besides the pool snack bar needed a reservation! (Insanity!) The food wasn't bad, didn't have much of a variety that we were looking for, but it fed us which did the job. We then were headed to the beach...stopped agin by another man in brown suit...he offered us free drinks to just sit and talk about our room...I told him we will only give him 30 min of our time, we really wanted to start our vacation! He swept us away to the other side of the resort. The VIP section, spent well over 2 hours being talked to and shown a better style of vacationing a much better room and better beach and pool areas...then the catch you have to pay every month for a Lifestyle Travelers package...no thanks...let me just vacation! We finally made it to the beach, half our day done...and the beach was nice, but water had too many rocks for me...I didn't like the water experience until we went back with our water shoes...then it became a Dream!!! On our 2nd day we did the pool side, it was nice only had one bar and had to keep getting out to get drinks because the swim up part was only on one side of the bar, not cool. The staff took our empty cups but didn't offer to get us drinks. Next day we headed shopping locally near the casino (5min drive) there was a little selection, but just enough if you wanted to taste some rum and chocolate! We tried to get reservations, the place in the lobby said the girl was on break to come back in 20 minutes...really you only have 1 staff member working there...not acceptable. So we returned in an hour and it was after 3pm, a sign was up saying closed will return tomorrow morning at 9am-3pm... waste of time. Next day we went to the Beach again. This time with our water shoes and we saw some nice beds with leaf top shading. We put our things down and started to sunscreen up to go into the water. A resort person came by and said we had to pay to use the beds...we said how much $10 for the day and we could get services from the bar too. (Seriously, that's supposed to be included with any all inclusive resort...) My Boyfriend said let's just do it because he like the bed idea...sonwe did. We got an order of drinks 15min later then we headed into the water. Had a nice time came out and was looking for someone to order drinks from...waited another 20 min because they tried to avoid us, all they wanted was $! For he beds so they were busy selling beds to guests instead of serving us drinks. We finally got the attention of the another staff member helping the 1st and got another drink order...since we realized we weren't probably going to see them again we ordered 2x the amount. And we were right...we didn't see them again. We got another opportunity to book restaurants as we were at the front desk asking them to fix our sink. We wanted to book restaurants for the next 3 nights we were there. They only had 2 available out of the 5 or 6 advertised...seriously unacceptable! So we did hibachi and Mediterranean... the Mediterranean restaurant was a joke! For all inclusive they limited our selections of appetizers and entree. So we decided to get different meals to try the limited selection they had. The portions were so small, maybe 2-3 spoonfuls of food...I ordered the lobster linguine for dinner and it was the saddest sight I had ever seen. The fresh posta was the best part...I thought it had no lobster until I looked at these 2 little snail sized pieces of shell they put on the side of the plate...I swear it had to be the tiniest lobster or maybe it was a crawfish how small the 2...yes 2 pieces they gave me for a meal...and dessert wasn't all they had on the menu. You only had 2 selections, fruit or cake...again not good either. The hibachi on the other hand was great! Until we hit the dessert part...they didn't have anything that appeared on the menu, they served us ice cream (sooonful) with a cookie on it. I thought it was to cleanse our pallet and await the actual dessert...nope, we all sat around the hibachi and waited like there was more coming...I had to ask the waitress if we were done or we waited for something else...she said bye-bye. So awkward! The entertainment was nice, had a heritage show, a fire beach show, a rock n roll show and more. Some were canceled and moved to different locations, getting seats were tricky but once we found some it was fair. So all was going ok...accepting the 2 star establishment for what it was. Until the last night we were there. We had dinner at the buffet and just walked around there resort at night, we took a different way back to the room and that's when it all happened...The paths are all red brick with some small man holes (painted red as well). We were walking in between buildings and there are some areas shaded by the palms with some light seeping through. We were walking casually through them and then I Fell Straight Down into a Hole...a manhole! My boyfriend was in front of me, he said he heard a loud "clank clank clank" looked back and I was gone. Then he looked down and there I was, pulling my leg out of a hole. Supposedly one of the Manhole's cover was only placed over the hole not secured at all, and of course my luck I stepped right on top of it . My leg went straight though to my thighs...bleeding everywhere, I was asking for help and no one was around. I hobbled back to my room and told my BF to meet me there when he found help. Finally we got someone and hobbled to the Medic office. The woman there refused to help me until a Manager came because the facility was not associated with the property...Really? So I was bleeding, swollen leg and just wanted it to be cleaned...don't know what was in that ManHole. I told her I had travel insurance...she said didn't matter she had to go through the resort. This was around 11pm. Waited for 30-45 min for a Night Manager to come just to make sure I didn't need an X-ray...which the doctor said would be a $5 charge...seriously the Worst Place on Earth!!! The manager asked if I could walk, I said limping around for now all I want is for her to Clean my Wound, every second I wait can make an infection worse! So he finally allowed her to clean it and bandage me up. Thankfully we were leaving this Curse Word Place the next morning. They took pictures of my leg and a copy of my passport and told me to follow up with my own doctor in the states...Duh! I tried calling the hotel several times to discuss the negligence on their part but was hung up on several times and told the manager wasn't in to call back...so I just gave up and decided to leave it to the review! WORST PLACE EVER! Tried to save $$$ and got Troubles instead!

Love this resort

The resort was very nice my room very nice modern updated, glass doors on bathroom an shower love it ~ the nightly activity's where an added plus. Met some nice people there, for the most me and my fiancé had a ball, this was our first time the Dominican Republic and this resort with the nice beach made it a very enjoyable time ~ only thing was we had cut our pink arm bands off and a couple times got stopped by the security ~ FYI need to keep those on and if you are flying in do not go through Santo Domingo airport it is an 1 1/2 drive to get to the resort, I found out later we should of flew in to Punta Cana. We will visit again an hope the entertainment staff will still be there they made you have fun~ they were very interactive with the audience~ had so much fun with these guys.

love the beach area this was my favorite spot

July stay

The beach was one of the best of all my trips to DR. They have artificial reef there also and snorkeling is great. Pools are fine too. Dining is not bad ( asian and brasilian restaurants r great, but do not go to the greek one- waste of time). Spa is good. Service is way better with small amount of tip given in advance. The room was the main issue. AC does not work even though they say it does so its pretty hot. The toilet does not flush well. However that was the regulat chesp room. There are other options- upgraded rooms and vip area- those are really nice, everything works well, AC too. Value for money is good- this is the cheapest all inclusive hotel in la romana area. The city and national park is close if you want to walk a few miles. You can also rent a car/bike/ebike in the hotel. Overall i would go back, but only if staying in vip area/upgraded rooms.
