Tired of sleepwalking through your everyday routine? Be Live Canoa, La Romana has enough adventure to recharge your spirit and put you in an island state of mind. Wonderful
This is my second time visiting this hotel. Overall it was wonderful.
The weather was excellent and the food was good. They are at the time renovating but and have stated that they will be for the next two years but the hotel is still available to all the guests.
The entertainment crew is excellent and they are hosting shows during the whole day either at the beach or by the poolside. At night time they have also have shows for the kids and for the rest of the family.
Originally when I arrived at the hotel I was given one room but then upgraded to another room that was excellent and free of charge. Once in the room we had one of the waiters come and give us a platter of fresh fruit.
The ride is about 2 hours from the hotel but it is all worth it.
Hope to be going again.
For us, the chief selling point of Be Live Canoa was its proximity to a lovely, almost undeveloped National Park (d' Este), starting under 1/2 mile up the beach and running further than we could walk. However, walking must be done between dawn and 10 am or so, as the sun becomes too strong from then until late afternoon, regardless of the moderate air temperature (mid-80s). Fortunately there were lots of trees on the resort beach. The (inclusive) food and drink were plentiful and good but not great, although the International Gourmet dining option (Italian) was very good. It was surprising that there were almost no Americans at the resort: mostly Germans, French and Italians, plus a few Russians. The evening theater presentations, with a characteristic macho take, sometimes verged on offensive, although it was presented in an attitude of "good fun." The service was lovely and helpful, and even the few vendors of jewelry & timeshares were not overly intrusive. The 2-hour drive from the airport was a little tedious, but it gave us our best chance to see what the D.R. looked like outside the boundaries of our Resort. On balance, we're glad we did it, and the value was extraordinary.

Quick trip - not as expected
We booked this trip as a last minute get away. The hotel was old and needed repair. Upon arrival we learned that the only alcohol was their local liquor and you could not get any sort of premium drinks anywhere on the facility. The food was poor at best - comparable to a local all you can eat cheap sloppy spoon. The drive from the airport was almost 2 hours and we had to wait almost 2 hours at the airport before they could get enough people to ride in the transportation. The transportation company would not answer our call and for two of the 4 days we were forced to spend with the hotel trying to facilitate our return transportation.
I guess the only good part of the trip (other than my company) was the fact that it rained during our stay and we then were eligible for a $100 discount on our next trip through Cheap Caribbean.
If you want to travel to DR - do not try Be Live Canoa - you will be dissapointed.

Which beach is better, Altantic or Caribbean in Dom Republic?4 answers
Such as we want to know whether or not to stay in Lifestyle Tropical Beach resort or Be Live Canoa in DR. They both seem to have their advantages but the beaches seem to be be the deal breaker. PLEASE LET US KNOW ALL YOUR INPUT AND SUGGESTIONS! Thank you!!

Same, but not in Puerto Plata on the place

In the DR, the Atlantic side seems to have nicer beaches, but it is the Atlantic Ocean, so it's the usual murky green water. Has waves, but many of the places I've been to restrict swimming to a roped off area.
The Caribbean side is the clear turquoise water you can snorkel in. Tends to be calmer water.
Depends on what you are looking for in a beach.

Stayed at Allegro (now Dreams) on north shore Punta Cana and at Oasis Canoa (now Be Live Canoa) on the south shore in La Romana.
I found that both the beach and the water to be more enjoyable in La Romana. Clear blue water, calm almost glass-like. Sandy, westward facing beaches, easy to stroll on.

The All Inclusive Be Live Canoa in the DR says Dominican alcoholic drinks are included. Besides beer, what does that refer to specifically. I assume rum. Anything else?

yes. it also means a variety of mixed drinks which usually have a mixture of either rum, vodka, gin, whiskey etc. I must advise you that the quality of the alcoholic beverages is not the best. Unless you want to pay extra for johhny walker black, chivas regal and a variety of other good quality liquor. these liquors will always be on the top shelf of the bars and not included in the cost.

This resort will not allow nude sunbathing however the Temptations and Hedonism resorts do have clothing optional sunbathing. Couples Tower Isle and Couples San Souci in Jamaica have separt beaches set aside exclusively for au natural sun bathing as well . Fully nude is not allowed but topless is very common, practically the norm.

Hello. Sorry to reply back so late. The beach is located right in back of the hotel so whoever does occupy the beach is only the guests. Nude I am not sure although for the ladies topless is okay.

My fiance says a snorkel trip must be included. Is the snorkeling in this area any good? We have never gone and do not want our first trip to be a bust...

Adding a separate snorkeling excursion is optional, however most of our resorts do offer free non motorized water sports, including snorkeling, as part of the all inclusive package. Snorkelling in the clear blue waters of the Caribbean is never disappointing. A separate excursion may take you to deeper waters and to proven snorkeling locations which are guaranteed to introduce you to amazing underwater flora and fauna.

As a diver, I thought the snorkeling right off the property to be so-so. Lots of sea grass and hardly any fish. However, the water is clear and quite calm at all times. The onsite dive shop is fantastic and can take you out on the boat to better snorkeling areas.

The resort has a bit of a commute to and from the airport (about an hour and a half). But you get to see so much along the way, which markes for a really great introduction to the island.
