Not all that great of a place
The only good thing about Almond Beach Club & Spa was the food and on occasions the service was good.
I went to the Barbados Almond, and it was fabulous. My favorite part of this experience was the access to all three resorts. There is a free shuttle going back and forth all day long (short ride). I booked the "Almond Surprise" to save a couple of dollars. No matter what resort you get placed at, you can't go wrong. For the adults worried about kids at the other resorts, no worries. They have separate sections. In fact, I think the shows tend to be better because of them. The adults only where I stayed tends to be a little older and for adults looking for a quiet location. A couple honeymooning switched to the other resort. When talking to them, they said they wanted a bigger resort and something with more entertainment. I'm already planning to go back. The food was delicious. A great selection, and you can eat at all three (make reservations before getting there).
We booked a 5 night stay at the Almond Beach Club and would happily go back again. I thought the hotel was a great value and was pretty much as advertised. Yes, there was no expansive beach but that should not be a surprise to anyone who read reviews. On the plus side, the reef near the hotel was great for snorkeling and we saw many snorkeling tour boats coming to a spot right outside our hotel, so it must be one of the better spots. More sea life and easier access there than I've seen on other islands.
I thought the rooms were clean and kept that way and the AC worked very well. Some things could probably use a bit of polish or updating but everything was serviceable. Only issues were the locks took too much jigging to get to work and there could definitely be more lounges by pool and beach.
The resort was small but we had access to all amenities at their two larger sister resorts. We liked the size of ours as it seemed the Almond Beach Village, while definitely fun for the day, had too many people for our taste. We were able to do all the included free water sports at ABC with no problem in scheduling or availability. Younger crowd at the sister hotel and the bartenders were a bit more fun (see Troy if you go to Almond Village) but service was as nice at both as I've had anywhere.
The food was actually pretty darn good for an all-inclusive. We've been to several and were pleasantly surprised, especially when we eat local fish and cuisine. We had a great time and would go back. For the deal we got, we were not expecting super posh and we got more than expected.
I was disappointed in this resort. It was small, old and barely had a beach ( which was a man made beach ) there are three Almond resorts all 30 mins apart from each other... This was definitely the worst of the three. The only impressive aspect of this resort was the room. We got the best room in the resort which was room 427 and right over the water.

What We'd Change
The beach is a little small and is covered with coral rock. But Sandy Lane beach is only steps away and awesome. Hey, Simon Cowell thinks it's marvelous, and he is pretty picky.

Hotel Description
Almond Beach Village Barbados All Inclusive
Stop swimming in a pool of regret over missed R and R, and slip into the dreamy waters of adults-only, all inclusive Almond Beach Village Barbados. Let your stress float away on the sweet Caribbean air at this pampering palace, located on the west coast of the island in luscious St. James.
The ultimate romantic getaway, Almond Beach Village Barbados has great locations for weddings. One in particular, the remarkable Sugar Mill, located at the sister hotel in St. Peter, is a gorgeous remnant of a sugar mill. After you tie the knot, take a dip in one of three dazzling pools, where you can snuggle up under a waterfall, cuddle in a hot tub surrounded by lush greenery or achieve sun-kissed perfection lounging on the sand terrace. This resort's spa is second-to-none, so if relaxation is your game, splurge on a Thalassotherapy algae-and-seaweed bath or a Swedish sauna. If you're feeling more active, venture down to the water's edge and explore the coral-rock formations on the 100-yard waterfront, strap on water-skis or reserve a sailboat and take to the sea, matey!
What better way to spoil your lovely lady than with a shopping trip? Designed to resemble a West Indian market, an open-air shopping village is within walking distance. Looking for the perfect little black dress? In the capital city of Bridgetown, you'll find just about anything the heart desires. For film and other necessities, there's a visitor-oriented shopping mall nearby.
Almond Beach Village has three dining choices to whet your appetite. The main restaurant, Sunset, is great for breakfast, with made-to-order omelets, but also offers an elegant, afternoon pick-me-up with traditional, British High Tea. And if you feel like grabbin' your honey for a little field trip, the sister resorts offer eight dining delights only a short, complimentary shuttle ride away. When you get back, stop by Tommy's Bar, for a little all inclusive rum, and then make your way to the Piano Bar for some night-owling.
