First Costa Rican Experience
This was my first trip to Costa Rica. The agents at Cheapcarribean.com were extremly helpful in locating a resort I would be happy with. I took multiple tours including ziplining and the volcano tours. White water rafting was excellent but the river boat tour was mediocre at best. Wordof caution book tours through the hotels since they are the only companies that have the roper insurance thresholds. Looking forward to teturning to this resort again.
First let me start by saying I am happy that I did not listen to the negative reviews, my stay at the Occidental was REALLY NICE, the setting and ambiance of the Hotel is truly worth it, the staff are hard working and dedicated to great customer service I must say they try their best. The Black Beach is nice clean and clear, there is a boat ride available daily for a White Sand Beach also very nice but seclude. The food selection was okay, a little redudant but overall is good, you may want to reserve for the a la carte dining which was a good switch from the buffet. Costa Rica is BEAUTIFUL, I would suggest doing some excursions, Zip Lining, ATV, Horseback riding, Volcanos and hot springs, etc. Although the Hotel is not as luxurious as I had hope the overall recognitiion of the staff effecient professional demeanor made an exceptional difference. I would suggest for the Bathrooms to be renovated due to leak over the years from A/C, MOLD is detrimental to everyone's health and the paintings that are located on top of the Beds to be change, they are too old and cleaning them is just not an option. I do hope that the suggestions in regards to the Bathroom are taken seriously, we love this place and the Staff is just phenomenal, we hope to do it again with our family and friends. I had a wonderful voyage. PURA VIDA
I enjoyed my stay , the food was great especially in the Italian restaurant. Once the bartenders knew how I liked my drinks they were happy to accomodate me. A tip helps. Visit the rain forrest.
Our stay at the Allegro Papagayo was pleasant. The staff was friendly and the hotel premises were very well kept. However, the conditions of the rooms were not great. We had to request a room change because the air conditioner was not working and were placed in a room I would describe as dirty. Overall, it is a beautiful hotel from the outside but although it protrays itself as all inclusive, we had to pay $2 a day for the safe, we had to pay for bottled water and there were NO drinks in the rooms at all and the bar closed at 11 which did not exactly facilitate things. I would not stay at this hotel again!

Guests at this resort have access to the beach through the Beach Club at no extra charge, however, because the resort is not located on the beach there would be an extra charge for transportation to the Beach Club.
