Allegro Cozumel

A five-minute boat ride from the Palancar Reef, Occidental's Allegro Cozumel is a great place to enjoy the quiet charm of Cozumel. Offering a multitude of activities to suit any traveler, the immaculate grounds, large swimming pools, beautiful white-sand beach and friendly family-orientated atmosphere will create memories to last a lifetime.

Two pools furnish swimming and sunning options, with a third reserved for children. Allegro's large main pool near the beach serves as the center of daylong activities. Behind the Mexican-specialty restaurant, a relaxation pool in the shape of two conjoined circles offers quieter space. Sundecks around both pools are furnished with lounge chairs and thatched-roof palapas for shaded napping and reading. Expansive lawns beside the relaxation pool contain hammocks and an oversized black-and-white chess set.

The beach is of white sand and extends 150 yards across the front of the resort. Numerous palapas entice in one direction, and the Caribbean's warm, turquoise water attracts in the other. Next to the beach is a popular spa tub for soaking with an oceanview.

Besides enjoying staff-led activities and sports, guests can take advantage of a complete dive center with certified instructors leading excursions out to various dive spots, including the Palancar reef, a five-minute boat ride away. Surcharges apply for all dive-related courses and trips. Allegro's tour desk can arrange excursions to various historical sites in the area, including Mayan ruins. Theatre-style meeting facilities can accommodate up to 200 people. There is also a Spa offering massage for a surcharge.

TOPAZ - Under a soaring thatched roof, this main restaurant lays out breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets. Dinner themes rotate nightly from among: Italian, Spanish, Caribbean, Oriental, Mexican, BBQ, and Gala Night. This restaurant has been newly renovated and now offers air-conditioning.
CARUSO'S - Located next to Topaz in the resort's main building, this fine dining, a la carte dinner house features an Italian menu (Trattoria). Reservations are required.
LA TROJE - Mexican specialties are the dinner theme at this a la carte restaurant near the pool. Reservations are required.
SNACK BAR - Open from noon for most of the afternoon, closes, then reopens for late night snacks.
FRESH FRUIT BAR - This fruit bar opens from noon for the lunch period.
AQUA BAR - Offering cool and refreshing beverages.
EL CRYSTAL BAR- Enjoy meeting old friends or making new ones over cocktails.
FAST EDDIE'S - This sports bar/disco offers television sets, pool tables, and a game room.

299 rooms distributed among Polynesian-style (thatched roofs) bungalows with 8 rooms per cabin (30 connecting rooms). All rooms have patios on the ground floor or balconies on the second floor, furnished with chairs and a hammock. Interiors have a rustic feel with terra-cotta tile floors, ceiling fans with wood paddles, light-yellow walls, pale furniture, and brightly colored bedspreads. Marble bathrooms include tub/shower combinations. Each room is equipped with air-conditioning, satellite TV, telephone, coffee maker, hair dryer, iron with ironing board, and in-room safe.
